Penelitian berjudul Karakterisasi Morfologi dan Fotoperiodisme Padi Lokal (oryza sativa L.) Indonesia yang dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2015 sampai September 2016 di Kebun Tri-Dharma, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Gadjah Mada yang berlokasi di Desa Bantengan, Kecamatan Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, menggunakan 11 kultivar padi lokal yang merupakan koleksi Departemen Budidaya Pertanian Fakultas Pertanian UGM yang bertujuan untuk mengkarakterisasi aspek morfologi dan mengidentifikasi pengaruh fotoperiode terhadap umur berbunga padi lokal Indonesia Penanaman dilakukan dalam kondisi lingkungan yang seragam dengan menggunakan rumah plastik seluas 5 x 5 m. Setiap kultivar ditanam dalam ember, setiap ember berisi satu tanaman. Data penelitian dianalisis mengikuti kaidah RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap) dengan tanggal tanam sebagai faktor. Hasil pengukuran panjang daun kultivar yang termasuk golongan daun panjang adalah 'Hitam Pagentan', 'Temen Ireng', dan 'Saka', kultivar yang termasuk golongan daun sedang adalah 'Bulu', 'Toraja', dan 'CempoIreng', kultivar yang termasuk golongan daun pendek adalah 'Menthik Wangi', 'Ciherang','Cukah, dan 'Andelrojo', dan kultivar yang termasuk golongan sagat pendek adalah'Nipponbare'. Pengukuran tinggi tanaman menunjukan padi yang memiliki tinggi tanamanterpendek yaitu 'Nipponbare', sedangkan yang tertinggi yaitu 'Temen Ireng' dan padi yangmemiliki ketegaran batang yang lemah seperti 'Bulu', 'Toraja', 'Hitam Pagentan', 'TemenIreng', 'Saka'. Kultivar 'Ciherang' dan Kultivar 'Menthik Wangi'. Hasil penelitian terhadapfotoperiodisme menunjukan kultivar yang tidak sensitif terhadap cahaya yaitu 'Nipponbare','Menthik Wangi' dan 'Cempo Ireng', sedangkan kultivar padi yang sensitif terhadap cahayayaitu 'Saka', 'Cukah', 'Andelrojo', 'Hitam Pagentan', 'Ireng temen', 'Toraja', 'Ciherang', dan'Bulu'.
