ResumoA religiosidade e a espiritualidade sempre foram consideradas importantes elementos de suporte para as pessoas que sofrem e/ou estão doentes. Objetivo: Avaliar a Qualidade de Vida (QV) geral e a prevalência de transtornos psíquicos menores nos seminaristas católicos. Método: Um estudo de corte transversal, descritivo e comparativo. Foram entrevistados 68 seminaristas católicos por meio dos questionários sociodemográfi co, World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL-100) e Self Report Questionnaire . Resultados: A avaliação da QV mostrouse alta em todos os domínios investigados. Com relação ao cruzamento entre as dimensões do WHOQOL-100 e a presença/ausência de sofrimento mental, em todos os domínios do instrumento de qualidade de vida, e SRQ-20, houve diferença signifi cativa, demonstrando que os candidatos que possuíam sofrimento mental estavam piores em relação aos que não possuíam em todos os domínios do WHOQOL-100. Conclusão: A QV dos seminaristas foi boa e a prevalência de transtornos psíquicos menores não foi signifi cante. AbstractThe religiosity and the spirituality have always been considered important hang points to people who are suffering and/or are ill. Objective: To assess the general Quality of Life (QoL), the health index and the prevalence of minor psychiatric disorders in Catholic seminarians in Campo Grande city, MS. Method: It was chosen a transverse, descriptive and comparative study. 68 Catholic seminarians were interviewed using the following procedures: social-demographic questionnaire from World Health Organization Quality of Life-100 and Self Report Questionnaire-20. Results: The QoL's assessment demonstrated to be high in all aspects investigated. Crossing the measures from WHOQOL-100 and the presence/absence of mental suffering, in all aspects of the quality of life instruments and SRQ-20, there was a signifi cant difference, demonstrating that the candidates who had mental suffering were worse in comparison with those who did not have it in all aspects of WHOQOL-100. Conclusion: The seminarians' QoL was good and the prevalence of minor psychiatric disorders was not signifi cant.
