In this article, the authors explore the role of religion in the identity construction of Palestinian diaspora youth in Canada. Little research has been done in the sociology of youth on the role of religion in the course of the transition towards adulthood. Yet religion plays an important role in the lives of many young people, particularly young immigrants. Our preliminary results suggest that these youths feel obliged to “speak for themselves», an issue also faced by other youth in post-industrial societies. Young Palestinian immigrants, moreover, negotiate the cultural and religious aspects of Islam in the construction of their identities
