Objectives: This study aims to identify effects of Korean medical treatment for stress urinary incontinence patient.Methods: The patient was treated by moxibustion at Shuidao (ST28), Sa-Am acupuncture lung tonification, Bojungikkitang-gamibang and Boshimdan for 2 weeks. These treatments are Korean medical treatment, and non-invasive.Results: After 2 weeks of Korean medical treatment, the symptoms of stress urinary incontinence disappeared.Conclusions: This case report shows that non-invasive Korean medical treatments are effective against stress urinary incontinence.
Objectives: Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is a common gynecologic symptoms. Various diseases, specially irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), ovarian cysts, and endometriosis, can occur CPP, but the medicines and the operations which used on these diseases have many side effects and even if patients get treatments, pain usually remain due to the pathology is not accord with the pain or the cause is not clear. There are some cases about effective of the Korean medicine therapies, but cases are still deficiency and case series has not been reported. We have a case series of CPP treated by Korean medicine treatment, so we report a case series on CPP.Methods: 6 patients, who suffered from CPP, were enrolled in this study. They received Korean medicine therapies such as herbal medicine, moxibustion, and acupuncture.Results: CPP was reduced by Korean medicine therapies.Conclusions: The present study suggests that Korean medicine therapies have a effect on CPP.
Objectives: This study aimed to investigate therapeutic effect of Korean Medicine Steam Therapy (KMST) for leukorrhea patients.Methods: From December 1st 2013 to Nov 31st 2014, 16 leukorrhea outpatients treated with KMST filled out questionnaire before and after treatments. The questionnaire was composed of 8 question items such as sleep, appetite & digestion, urination, defecation, emotion, cold hypersensitivity, menstrual pain, leukorrhea and patients were told to evaluate their symptoms as NRS score. We analyzed mean NRS score of each question item before and after KMST by using Wilcoxon's signed rank test of SPSS ver. 19.Results: Mean age of participants was 40.8±13.0 years and mean value of treatment numbers per person was 3.8±1.8 times. 43.75% (n=7) of the patients had history of vaginitis caused by gardnella vaginalis, ureaplasma urealyticum or candida albicans. All patients were treated with acupuncture, moxibustion and Korean medicine. In addition, there was no side effect reported by participants. NRS score of quantity, odor of leukorrhea, perineal unpleasant sensation such as itching, dryness, burning sensation remarkably decreased (p<0.01, p<0.05, p<0.01 each). NRS score of symptoms including sleep, urination, cold hypersensitivity, menstrual pain also remarkably decreased (p<0.05).Conclusions: Symptoms of leukorrhea patients including sleep, urination, cold hypersensitivity, menstrual pain, leukorrhea showed significant decrease after treated with concurrent KMST.
Objectives: To identify effects and safety of Korean traditional herbal medicine and auricular acupuncture for hyperemesis gravidarum patients.Methods: Korean traditional herbal medicine and auricular acupuncture were applied to 4 hyperemesis gravidarum patients, and we investigated changes of symptoms, continuance of pregnancy, and whether they delivered or not.Results: Hyperemesis gravidarum symptom was improved in 3 patients, and 1 patient showed complete recovery. Among them, 2 patients had children by natural childbirth, 1 patient had a repeat cesarean due to previous cesarean section, and 1 patient has been maintaining pregnancy well for 25weeks.Conclusions: It is confirmed that symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum patients were improved by Korean traditional herbal medicine and auricular acupuncture, and these medical interventions are safe.
