El uso de un enfoque BPM en la gestión de procesos de las Instituciones educativas de nivel superior es una de las alternativas para potenciar la mejora en calidad de la educación. El Instituto de Postgrado de la Universidad Técnica del Norte dispone de procesos administrativos y académicos que no se encuentran dentro del Sistema Informático Universitario, lo que conlleva a interpretar y manejar erróneamente varios de los procesos que dispone el Instituto . El objetivo de este estudio, es el análisis de un enfoque BPM y sus herramientas, que permita a través de un módulo automatizado integrar y modelar los procesos del Instituto de Posgrado en el Sistema Informático de la Universidad Técnica del Norte. La metodología de investigación utilizada fue cualitativa, de campo, documental, en cuanto para el diseño del módulo informático se utilizó la metodología ágil SCRUM. Las técnicas empleadas fueron el uso de encuestas realizadas al personal académico y administrativo del Instituto; conjuntamente con la entrevista al director del departamento de desarrollo tecnológico de la Universidad Técnica del Norte. En los resultados obtenidos se observó que la integración de la librería BMPN-JS en el sistema informático integrado de la UTN permitió identificar, modelar y determinar las actividades y procedimientos dentro de un modelo de gestión de procesos y se dio a conocer al personal administrativo, docente y estudiantes del Instituto de Posgrado de una manera ágil.
