Treatment of Class I furcation lesion: furcation plasty ABSTRACT Furcation defects represent a challenge for therapists due to their anatomical characteristics and its variability in the form of response to treatment. Consequently, loss attachment develops in horizontal and vertical direction in this area. A wide range of treatment modalities have been directed to maintain this anatomical area: non-surgical and surgical mechanical debridement, furcation plasty, tunneling procedures, hemisection, root amputation and regenerative therapy. The purpose of this report is to show the effectiveness of the furcation plasty as a treatment for Class I furcation lesions.
