Rubiaceae, the fourth largest family of angiosperms in number of species in the world, is renowned by the opposite leaves, interpetiolar stipules, gamopetalous corolla and inferior ovary. Although well represented in the herbaria collections, it has not yet been fully studied in Paraná State. The Tibagy river basin is located in the center-eastern region of the Paraná State and is divided into Upper, Middle and Lower Tibagy, covering 13% of the State's total surface. A number of exsiccates from both the Paraná herbaria collections and the field samplings conducted in the municipalities of the basin were collected, 1053 of which were analyzed. In this study, 18 genera and 35 species were recorded. Among those, Psychotria is the genus with greater species richness. The species Psychotria subtriflora, Psychotria tenuifolia, and Simira corumbensis were identified as new occurrence records for Paraná State and Psychotria fractistipula as a new citation for the State. This survey broadens the taxonomic knowledge of the Rubiaceae family and its role in the flora of the Tibagy basin and in the State of Paraná. Rubiaceae, a quarta maior família de angiospermas em número de espécies no mundo, é reconhecida pelas folhas opostas, estípulas interpeciolares, corola gamopétala e ovário ínfero. Apesar de estar bem representada nas coleções dos herbários, não tem sido completamente estudada no Estado do Paraná. A bacia do rio Tibagi, localizada no centro-leste do Estado, abrange 13% de sua superfície. É dividida em três regiões: Alto, Médio e Baixo Tibagi. Foram analisadas 1.053 exsicatas, provenientes dos acervos de herbários do Estado do Paraná e de coletas de campo realizadas em municípios da bacia. Neste estudo foram registrados 18 gêneros e 35 espécies, onde Psychotria é o gênero com maior riqueza. As espécies Psychotria subtriflora, Psychotria tenuifolia e Simira corumbensis foram apontadas como novas ocorrências para o Estado do Paraná e Psychotria fractistipula, como nova citação para o Estado. Este trabalho amplia os conhecimentos taxonômicos sobre a família Rubiaceae para a flora da bacia do Tibagi e Estado do Paraná.

Scientific computing over the Internet can suit many activities that have not, in the authors’ opinion, been explored enough in general. Resources such as executables, languages, packages, can be used from a remote computing system. In this study, largely based on academic practice, a simple illustrative example in Geometry is implemented on a distributed system that outsources the computing-intensive tasks to remote servers that may be located in other universities or companies, linked to grids and clusters and so on. The software stack and software developed to support the communication is explained in detail. The architecture developed stresses the interoperability of the software, and a suitable high degree of decoupling between components hosted in various locations. The results of this study motivate further work and serve a practical purpose that may be useful to everyone doing scientific computing
