We investigated the relationship between coronavirus anxiety and rumination with subjective vitality and loneliness as mediators. The online sample included 356 Turkish young people (M ¼ 22.06, SD ¼ 4.43 years). The analysis indicated that the coronavirus anxiety was directly associated with subjective vitality, loneliness, and rumination. Subjective vitality and loneliness also had direct effects on rumination. Furthermore, the indirect effect of coronavirus anxiety on rumination was mediated by subjective vitality and loneliness. These findings highlight the importance of having effective systems that account for subjective vitality and loneliness to minimize the impact of the coronavirus anxiety on rumination.

The purpose of the current study is to present the psychometric properties of the Short Schema Mode Inventory in the Turkish culture. The study sample comprised 1,287 participants, including both clinical and nonclinical participants. The age of the participants ranged between 18 and 48 years. The construct validity of the scale was tested using confirmatory factor analysis. The internal (Cronbach's alpha) and test-retest reliability coefficients were used to examine the reliability of the scale. Discriminant validity was investigated by comparing the nonclinical and clinical participants. Concurrent validity was tested via the Splitting Scale. The results of the study showed that the tested model had good data-model fit statistics. Additionally, the reliability analyses revealed that the scales had good internal and test-retest reliability coefficients. A significant association was found between the subscales of the Schema Mode Inventory. Furthermore, the scores of the clinical participants were significantly higher compared with the scores of the nonclinical participants for the maladaptive schema modes. Nonetheless, the participants in the nonclinical group had significantly higher levels of the healthy schema modes than individuals in the clinical group. The results of this study demonstrated that the Schema Mode Inventory was a reliable and valid instrument to measure schema modes in the Turkish population. Bu araştırmanın amacı, ebeveynlik biçiminin kişilik özellikleri, benlik saygısı ve yaşam doyumunu yordama gücünü araştırmaktır. Araştırmada ilişkisel araştırma deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırma grubu, Ankara'da bir devlet üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesinin çeşitli bölümlerinde okumakta olan 441 lisans öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır.

Dusseldorf Illustrated Schema Questionnaire for Children (DISC) measures early maladaptive schemas (EMS) in childhood. EMS are emotional and cognitive rules and patterns formed in childhood and adolescence because of unmet emotional needs which are maintained throughout life and negatively affect one’s potential. The first aim of the current study is to adapt DISC to the Turkish language and examine its psychometric properties to facilitate preventive intervention during early childhood. The second aim of the study is to investigate the relationship between schemas and childhood difficulties. The sample consisted of 771 (419 females, 352 males) children of first graders (8-year-old) to twelfth graders (14-year-old) from 54 of the 81 cities in Turkey. Cronbach’s α value for the total of 36 items was calculated as .89 and α values for subscales ranged between .42 and .83. The test–retest reliability coefficient of the total of the scale was .79 at 1 month and subscales’ test–retest values ranged between .31 and .91. Confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit for the purported 18-factor model of the original DISC in the Turkish version within a sample of children from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds from Turkey. The Turkish version of the DISC indicated a reliable and valid instrument to assess maladaptive schemas in children.

Bölme en önemli ilkel ve olgunlaşmamış savunma mekanizmalarından biridir. Bireyin oluşan nesneyi iyi ve kötü özellikleriyle birlikte bir bütün olarak algılamamasına neden olur. Kişinin bu algısı iyi-kötü özellikleri ayırmada iyi olarak belirlenen nesnenin sadece iyi yanlarının görülmesine ve kötü yanların algılanmamasına, kötü olarak belirlenen nesnenin iyi yanlarının tamamen inkâr edilmesine yol açar. Bölme savunma mekanizması ile ilişkili olabilecek kavramlardan biri de şema modlarıdır. Bireylerin günlük yaşamda ve yaşamları boyunca çok farklı baskın ruh hali modlarda olma kapasitesine sahip oldukları belirtilmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışmanın amacı bölme savunma mekanizması ile şema modları arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Araştırmaya Elazığ ve Ankara şehirlerinde farklı üniversitelerde eğitim gören 18-34 yaş arasında (Ort. =20.369, SS.=2.099) 537 (364 kadın ve 113 erkek) üniversite öğrencisi katılmıştır. Araştırmada Kısa Şema Mod Ölçeği, Bölme Ölçeği ve kişisel bilgileri içeren Demografik Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Yapılan korelasyon analizi sonucunda ise değişkenler arasında düşük-orta düzeyde değişen anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Regresyon analiz sonuçları çocuk şema modlarından dürtüsel çocuk ve kızgın çocuk mod; uyumsuz baş etme modlarından uyumlu teslimci, büyüklenmeci, kopuk korungan ve kopuk kendini avutan mod; işlevsiz ebeveyn şema modlarından ise cezalandırıcı ebeveyn ve beklentili ebeveyn mod değişkenlerinin katılımcıların bölme düzeylerini anlamlı düzeyde ve pozitif yönde yordarken, sağlıklı yetişkin modun bölmeyi anlamlı düzeyde yordamadığını göstermiştir. Bulgular literatür ışığında tartışılmıştır.
