El estudio tuvo como finalidad determinar las fuentes de financiamiento y capacidad de endeudamiento de los productores de maíz del cantón Mocache, provincia de Los Ríos, Ecuador. Se seleccionaron 76 productores: 43 pequeños (PP), 27 medianos (MP) y 6 grandes (GP) a quienes se aplicó una encuesta. Los resultados indican el 40% de los productores tienen entre 11 y 30 años de experiencia, la extensión de terreno dedicado a maíz va de 1 a 46 ha. Un 76% de los productores utilizan semilla certificada siendo INIAP 551 la más utilizada (69.7%), seguida por Dekalb-5005 y Vencedor R-8330 (19.7% y 18.4% respectivamente), mientras que el 22.2 % de productores utilizan semilla reciclada. El promedio de producción de maíz del cantón Mocache es 5.6 t.ha-1. Los PP acceden a prestamistas informales (agiotistas, comerciantes). Los MP y GP acuden a formales e informales (bancos, comerciantes y fomentadores). Las condiciones que establecen los financistas formales son varias pero, a excepción del Banco Nacional de Fomento (BNF), ningún banco ofrece un producto financiero específico para agricultura. La oferta financiera va de 100 a 20 000 USD por parte del BNF y de 2000 a 20000 de la banca privada, mientras que las empresas fomentadoras solo entregan el crédito en insumos. La rentabilidad obtenida fue de 27.10; 63.22 y 74.00 % para aquellos productores que tienen menos de 5 ha, de 5 a 20 ha y más de 25 hectáreas de maíz, respectivamente. Solo los grandes y medianos productores tienen capacidad de endeudamiento.
Los niños con discapacidad intelectual (DI) pueden desarrollar nuevas habilidades y adquirir más conocimientos, pero necesitan de herramientas que les permitan hacerlo a su ritmo, que frecuentemente no es el mismo que el de muchos niños de edades similares. El aprendizaje basado en el juego es una forma útil de aportar en este aprendizaje. A pesar de que existen muchos juegos para computadoras y móviles, estos no necesariamente son adecuados en el caso de DI. Por ello, este artículo presenta JIT, una aplicación web desarrollada tratando de ayudar a personas con DI en el aprendizaje de temas básicos (como colores, figuras geométricas, números, la espacialidad, etc.). La aplicación fue diseñada y evaluada con la colaboración de docentes y técnicos dedicados a trabajar con personas con DI, apuntando a que los usuarios se sientan motivados a aprender, y puedan practicar y recordar los temas estudiados de forma lúdica. Así, JIT puede ser utilizada por docentes de educación especial y afines como una herramienta educativa, contando también con la posibilidad de agregar más temas y personalizar las diferentes actividades disponibles.
Pleurotus ostreatus, es un hongo comestible que se produce en una gran variedad de residuos agrícolas y agroindustriales, debido a su gran capacidad de colonizar y degradar sustratos lignocelulósicos. El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar la cinética de crecimiento radial, para la obtención de micelio y la producción de Pleurotus ostreatus en estado fresco, utilizando para su crecimiento cáscara de mazorca de maíz tierno, cáscara de leguminosas (arveja, frejol y haba). En la cinética de crecimiento radial, que fue la obtención de micelio el que mejor comportamiento demostró en el crecimiento de Pleurotus ostreatus fue el medio de cultivo Papa dextrosa agar más la inclusión de cáscara de arveja (Pisum sativum) 74 mm a las 168 horas de crecimiento, mientras que el mejor rendimiento de cosecha de Pleurotus ostreatus fue la cáscara de haba (Vicia faba) 151.40 g de Pleurotus ostreatus, por kilogramo de sustrato en la primera cosecha. Con estos resultados se tiene una alternativa de utilizar los residuos de hortalizas que se generan en el mercado central del cantón Quevedo, Provincia de Los Ríos, Ecuador, en la obtención de un alimento y disminuir la contaminación que los residuos generan en el medio ambiente.
