Híbridos con alto potencial productivo y alta demanda nutricional, mayor costo de los fertilizantes y el impacto ambiental causado por la aplicación excesiva de nutrientes, son factores que exigen mejoras en el manejo de la fertilización del maíz dulce. Fue realizado un experimento desde el 24/4 a 25/8 de 2014, con el objetivo de evaluar diferentes dosis de potasio (K) (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 y 250 kg ha-1 de K 2 O), sobre la productividad del maíz superdulce 'GSS 41243', principal cultivar utilizado por la agroindustria en São Paulo, Brasil. El cultivo fue establecido en suelo tipo Rhodic Hapludox con altos niveles de K (resina) disponible (4,2 mmol c dm-3 de K intercambiable). El aumento en las dosis de K no influyó sobre las productividades total, comercial y de granos, rendimiento de granos, longitud y diámetro de la mazorca, o en la concentración foliar de K. Por tanto, en el suelo tipo Rhodic Hapludox con 4,2 mmol c dm-3 de K, se puede prescindir de la fertilización potásica en el maíz superdulce 'GSS 41243'.
