L’optimisation de l’enseignement/apprentissage de la conduite hippomobile en France est une des missions de l’Institut français du cheval et de l’équitation. C’est autour de cet enjeu qu’un collectif de recherche s’est constitué pour étudier et accompagner la rénovation de l’environnement de formation des cochers-meneurs. Pour tenir ensemble les visées épistémiques et transformatives, nous avons choisi d’analyser l’activité des formateurs et des stagiaires en complétant l’approche anthropologique enactive par un regard socio-historique. Pour décrire, comprendre et expliquer ces activités, nous mobilisons différentes échelles d’analyse en mettant en relation une culture équestre inscrite dans plusieurs siècles d’histoire et socialement marquée, une transition institutionnelle en cours de réalisation, et les dynamiques propres des formateurs et des stagiaires. Nos résultats permettent de discuter l’articulation formation-recherche-innovation et les notions de temporalités.
