Purpose
This paper aims to re-evaluate and thus recommends possible ways in improving the current practice of hibah trust in Malaysia.
Design/methodology/approach
This study conducts a thorough and critical review on relevant literature on Islamic wealth management and estate distribution. Besides, the current practice and application of hibah trust by the Malaysian trustee companies such as Amanah Raya Berhad and As-Salihin Trustee Berhad is analyzed based on information gathered from their publications and direct consultation.
Findings
Based on the comparison made between hibah trust and its conventional counterpart, living trust, this study found that that the hibah trust product mirrors the conventional living trust, which provides a high degree of freedom to the benefactor to decide on the distribution of his wealth without taking into consideration the interest of the eligible heirs under farai’d. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that the practice of hibah trust would be able to expedite the lengthy and complex procedures of inheritance, reduce administrative costs and avoid legal impediments and inheritance tax.
Practical implications
This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for an improved asset distribution under hibah trust within the Malaysian Islamic wealth management industry by highlighting the significance of fara’id and wasiyyah rules. This proposed framework of hibah trust would become a useful reference for the policy makers in designing a dedicated regulation or legal provisions in the established laws that will govern the practice of hibah trust in Malaysia.
Originality/value
The novelty of this paper lies in highlighting the importance of adhering to the law of Islamic inheritance rules as ordained by Allah s.w.t in structuring contemporary Islamic estate planning instruments such as hibah trust, which is not evident in the current practice.
this paper focuses on data modeling for traceability in information layer of manufacturing control system. The model is able to trace all associated data throughout the product manufacturing from order to final product. Applicability of designed data-model is enhanced with traceability of associated quality data for the system dynamically. The modeling consisted of four steps, mapped successfully and integrated in one final framework. Techniques and procedures of the modeling are explained along with business relationships. Data model expression based on EntityRelationships modeling is proposed. The developed model promises to handle fundamental issues of a traceability system effectively. It supports for customization and real-time control of material in flow in all quality and production operation processes. Recording deviations and assessing their impact become easier. Through enhanced visibility and dynamic store/retrieval of data, all traceability usages and applications is responded. Designed solution is initially applicable in identical lot-base traceability of material in flow cases as a reference data model.
The index Cpmk is a well-known loss-based process capability index. It can reveal more information about the location of the process mean compared with other classic process capability indices. This index is also more sensitive than other capability indices to any deviations from process mean. When there are some uncertainties in observations, fuzzy logic can be employed to manage these uncertainties. There is some research on different fuzzy process capability indices and this paper is an extension of Tsai and Chen (2006), Chen, Lin, and Chen (2003) for the process capability index Cpmk of fuzzy numbers. In order to find the membership function of process capability index Cpmk, the α-cuts of the fuzzy observation were employed. An example of fuzzy process capability Cpmk calculator was illustrated and compared with other classic fuzzy process capability indices Cp,Cpl,Cpu,Cpk and Cpm . Results showed that fuzzy Cpmk has the advantages of both Cpk and Cpm . Since the index Cpmk is a more sensitive index compared with other classic indices, the fuzzy process capability index Cpmk can be a more sensitive fuzzy index compared with Cp,Cpl,Cpu,Cpk and Cpm.
Malaysian managers are trying to implement quality management (QM) practices in their industries to be competitive. However, few empirical studies are conducted in the developing economy of Malaysia to examine the role of TQM soft dimension (STQM) as possible mediator in the relationship among QMS ISO9001:2015 and sustainable performance (SP). Using 329 primary data collected from Malaysian numerous industries, this paper aims to develop a conceptual ▻ Authors ▻ Keywords
National soybean productivity was reach 1,45 tons per hectare, while the potential yield reach 2,0-3,0 tons per hectare. The aim of this study was to analyze the factors affecting technical efficiency, and sources of technical inefficiency of soybean farming. This study used primary data that were obtained from 100 farmers purposively, those data were analyzed by production function analysis that stochastic frontier to analyzed the factors that influence the production of technical efficiency of soybean farming. The results showed that the variable land, solid fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, pesticide solid, liquid pesticides, and labor have a positive impact, while the variable seed has a negative impact on technical efficiency of soybean farming. The source of technical inefficiency such as the age of the farmer, and experience farming soybean have negative and significant impact on technical inefficiency of soybean farming. Otherwise, the formal education, old farming, the number of dependents, and the dummy variable (following the extension and land type) have a positive impact but not significant to technical inefficiency of soybean farming in Pidie Jaya, Aceh Province.
Process capability indices (PCIs) are appropriate tools to measure the inherent capability of a process, but most of them do not consider the losses of a process, while in today's competitive business environment, it is becoming more and more important for companies to evaluate and minimise their losses. This paper presents a review of loss-based PCIs such as Cpm, C pmk, PCIθ, Cpc, Le and L"e. This paper also discusses characteristics of loss-based PCIs such as reject based, asymmetric, bounded, loss based and target based. Finally, recommendations were made for developing a new loss-based process capability index with more excellent specifications.
