Resumen El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar los gráficos estadísticos incorporados en las dos series de libros de texto utilizadas con más frecuencia en la educación primaria en Costa Rica. Se analizan el tipo de gráfico, su complejidad semiótica y el contexto de donde se toman los datos, así como el tipo de tarea planteada, el nivel de lectura requerido y el propósito del gráfico dentro de la tarea. Se observa la predominancia del gráfico de barras, el tercer nivel de complejidad semiótica (representar una distribución), segundo nivel de lectura (leer entre los datos), contexto laboral y escolar, tareas de lectura y cálculo y propósito de análisis. Se describen las diferencias en función del grado y entre las dos editoriales, destacando las coincidencias y diferencias con resultados de otros estudios sobre la presentación de los gráficos estadísticos en los libros de texto en España y Chile.
El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar las variables que caracterizan los gráficos estadísticos y las tareas relacionadas en los libros de texto de educación secundaria en Costa Rica. Primero se examinan 143 gráficos presentados en tres editoriales para los cursos 7.º a 9.º (de 13 a 15 años), estudiando el tipo de gráfico, su complejidad semiótica y el contexto de los datos representados. Seguidamente se estudian 340 tareas propuestas sobre estos gráficos, analizando el nivel de lectura requerido, propósito del gráfico dentro de la tarea y tipo de tarea. Los resultados se comparan con otros estudios de gráficos estadísticos en libros de texto de educación primaria. En comparación con la anterior etapa educativa se introducen nuevos gráficos, hay mayor presencia del nivel superior de complejidad semiótica y disminuye el contexto escolar, dando mayor peso al científico. Respecto a las tareas, disminuye el peso de la lectura, apareciendo nuevas tareas; el propósito principal es el análisis y no hay mucha diferencia en el nivel de lectura requerido en primaria y secundaria.
En este artículo, se expone una innovación educativa para la disminución del abandono escolar a través de una estrategia denominada Alerta temprana, la cual consiste en el registro de una serie de aspectos que muestra el estudiante cuando está en riesgo de abandono del sistema educativo. La estrategia es parte del programa “Yo me apunto” implementado por el Ministerio de Educación Pública de Costa Rica, pero ha sido adaptada, por el Colegio Nocturno de Pococí (CNP), para utilizar las tecnologías móviles y la herramienta de formularios de Google, en las cuales los docentes reportan, principalmente, el ausentismo, mientras los orientadores de nivel dan seguimiento a los casos indicados. Este mecanismo ha permitido identificar los principales factores de riesgo que presenta un estudiante antes de renunciar al colegio, lo que facilita la atención rápida y oportuna del caso y la toma de decisiones por parte de las autoridades institucionales. De esta forma, se describe la experiencia obtenida en el CNP, donde los índices de exclusión son muy altos y los resultados de aplicar esta estrategia evidencian una mejora significativa en la prevención y el seguimiento de los riesgos de abandono.
El objetivo de este trabajo fue analizar los tipos de gráficos estadísticos y contextos descritos en las pruebas PISA asociados a los mismos en una muestra de libros de texto de matemáticas muy utilizados en la Educación General Básica en Costa Rica. El estudio contempla tres editoriales diferentes completas (un libro de texto para cada uno de los niveles de la educación primaria, niños de 7 a 11 años) y otras tres editoriales de educación secundaria (jóvenes de 13 a 15 años). En total, se analiza la distribución de 408 gráficos en los diferentes niveles de enseñanza y se comparan con resultados destacados en otras investigaciones. Igualmente se analizan los contextos en que se presentan los textos, utilizando la clasificación de los estudios PISA. Se constata un buen ajuste del tipo de gráfico respecto a las orientaciones curriculares y la presencia de los diferentes contextos, aumentando la presencia de las situaciones científicas en la educación secundaria.
