Con el objetivo de analizar cómo los mecanismos de liderazgo empleados en el sector salud limitaron el correcto abastecimiento de vacunas durante la pandemia en países latinoamericanos, se realizó un estudio cualitativo, no experimental, descriptivo, de corte transversal. La metodología empleada fue bibliográfica de tipo comparativa, con una delimitación de criterios basado en la búsqueda de artículos con un lapso de 5 años de actualización en bases de datos especializadas en salud desde el 10 al 19 de julio del 2022. Los artículos relevantes fueron recopilados con el gestor de referencia Mendeley, conformando una biblioteca virtual personal acorde al tema de estudio. Según el silencio documental se usaron fuentes primarias originales, redefinición de palabras claves, realización de búsquedas complementarias y consultas a expertos. Colombia, Ecuador y Perú obtuvieron casi todas las vacunas disponibles, la forma de adquisición predominante fue por acuerdos bilaterales y convenios con países productores. Argentina representó 90,24 % de dosis aplicadas con cobertura del 82,36 %, respectivamente. Se concluye que el liderazgo empleado en el abastecimiento de vacunas fue deficiente. Haití resultó ser el país con menos vacunados, debido al rechazo del gobierno por no considerarlas seguras, lo que acelera el nivel de contagio e impide mayores coberturas en la población analizada.
La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la asociación entre las alteraciones olfatorias y la COVID-19 en pacientes confirmados mediante prueba molecular RT-PCR versus pacientes sanos. La metodología empleada fue de tipo cuantitativo, observacional, retrospectivo, longitudinal, analítico, de tipo caso-control que incluyó a una muestra piloto de 105 pacientes, 35 casos y 70 controles, atendidos en el hospital Dr. Publio Escobar, Provincia Chimborazo, Ecuador, durante el periodo de marzo de 2020 a diciembre de 2021. El método de muestreo fue probabilístico de tipo aleatorio simple; para la recolección de datos se empleó la historia clínica, los datos fueron analizados a través de la estadística descriptiva e inferencial, y procesados mediante el software SPSS versión 19.0. Los resultados revelan que la anosmia fue la alteración olfatoria con asociación estadísticamente significativa. La proporción de exposición en el grupo casos fue de 74,29 %, en el grupo control de 57,15 %, Odds Ratio(OR)=2,16;[IC: 1,51–32,25]. Se concluye que la anosmia es la disfunción olfativa más frecuente entre pacientes COVID-19, y existe dos veces más posibilidades de que ocurran alteraciones olfatorias asociadas a pacientes COVID-19. La evaluación de las alteraciones olfativas pudiera ser un indicador temprano del COVID-19 dentro del contexto pandémico actual.
El presente artículo analiza los patrones de percepción de riesgo en relación a la preocupación ambiental de los fenómenos ambientales percibidos por los estudiantes y profesionales de la Universidad Estatal Peninsular de Santa Elena. . A través del instrumento “listado de Situaciones de Riesgo”, mediante estudio exploratorio, descriptivo, considerando las variables: edad, género y nivel educativo de una muestra pequeña (n>30), para corroborar la normalidad de la variable cualitativa, la hipótesis se sustenta en el test de normalidad de Shapiro-Wilk.
