The study was undertaken to examine the extent of women along with men participated in post-harvest activities; to identify the problems and constraints faced by them and find suitable solution from their perception. The post-harvest activities were estimated at farm level in Aman rice at Rangpur, Nilphamari, Khulna, Satkhira and Jessore district of Bangladesh by using survey data collected randomly from 270 rice growing households for the year 2012-13. It employed participatory approaches to investigate farmers' perceptions on post-harvest management. The analyses shows women spends more time (591 hours ha -1 ) on PH activities than men (581 hours ha -1 ) but the ultimate decision maker of those activities are male indicating that women are very seldom given the opportunities to implement their ideas for execution although they are now gaining the right to give their opinion because of social awareness.
To evaluate population fluctuations in relation to weather parameters and biorational management of sucking insect vectors in chili (Capsicum annuum L.), we conducted a study at the experimental field of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur
This study was carried out to find out the financial profitability and technical efficiency of tilapia fish farmers in the selected area of Bangladesh. A total of 70 tilapia fish farmers (large 36 farmers and small 34 farmers) were selected from major tilapia producing area at Trishal upazila of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh. To fulfill the objectives of this study, profitability, socioeconomic analysis, Cobb-Douglas production function and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) were employed. Study revealed that gross profit margin of the large farmers was 24.42% and small scale farmers was 23.8% indicating that farmers did not enough well in managing their farm and farmers has less capacity to cover for operating, financing and other cost. Break-even price for the large tilapia farmers worked out Tk. 77.33 per kg and small farmers was Tk. 81.56 per kg while break-even production for large farmers was found 1159.64 kg per hectare. Benefit cost ratio, net profit margin were found more than one and positive respectively, indicated that tilapia farming was commercially profitable. Considering all selected farmers, tilapia farming found a profitable business where undiscounted BCR for large farmers was 1.213 and a small farmer was 1.230. The mean technical efficiency level of tilapia fish farmers was 81.8 (where allocative efficiency was 93.1 and scale efficiency was 88.2) percent, implies that by operating at full technical efficiency levels, tilapia yield could be increased and efficient farmers found more productive than inefficient farmers. The results of technical efficiency showed that the farmers were efficient nevertheless, the sample farmers operated well below the production frontier and hence that they still had a chance to achieve targeted yields. Farmer’s financial benefit can be increased by reducing the feed price or increasing the output price.

A comprehensive and comparative study of Broiler and Turkey has been undertaken in Bangladesh focusing the stability issues. The study compared the profits of broiler and newly introduced Turkey breed in Bangladesh. The data used in the study were obtained from a cross-sectional survey of broiler and turkey farmers in the study areas. Purposive and simple random sampling procedures were used to select 180 farmers for the study. The data collected were analyzed using STATA and descriptive statistics. Major findings of this study indicates high gross and net return for Broiler 12.32 lac and 3.98 lac respectively although because of low cost the return over per Taka investment or BCR (undiscounted) was calculated and found high for Turkey 2.227 & of broiler 1.47. The study also revealed that farmer ’s age, education level had the positive and significant effect and experience, occupation, link with extension services and timely vaccinated had the negative effect for choosing Turkey production (turkey = 1 and broiler = 0). The main impediments to the turkey industry were found lack of proper marketing, veterinary and training facilities turning to a sudden fall in the demand, discouraged farmers to adopt turkey farming. Although both productions were found more or less profitable turkey farmers recorded more profit with less risk and therefore by investing more in turkey could be a strategy to bridging the animal protein supply deficit as a means of increasing farm income.
