Background: Blood transfusion has a positive effect on patient life, so nurses' plays an integral role to maintain patient safety related to blood transfusion. Aim of the study: The present study was aimed to assess knowledge of nurses regarding blood transfusion at public hospitals in Sana'a City-Yemen Method: A descriptive cross-sectional design study was utilized in this study; 93 nurses were employed in public hospitals in Sana'a-Yemen. Selfadministered questionnaire was used to collect data from October 2020 to November 2020. Results: The most of study participants were employed labor room department 44.1%, belonged to age group (26 to 30 years) 33.3%. The Diploma degree was the most available qualification 69.9%, 83.7% had 6 to 10 years' experience as nurses, while 85.60% of them h <1-5 years' experience in an ICU. The most 71%of nurses were not trained. Knowledge regarding blood transfusion was fair 59.1%, while 25.8% had good knowledge. Conclusion: The most of nurses had fair knowledge regarding blood transfusion. Recommendation: Transfusion training and evidence-based guidelines are needed to reduce inappropriate transfusions and improve patient care.
Background: Patient safety is a priority for health care organizations worldwide. Nurses need to recognize the challenges they face when administering medications to their patients. This study aimed to assess nurses' knowledge toward drug administration. Setting: This study was conducted in different departments in Public Hospitals in Sana'a City-Yemen. Methodology: This is a descriptive, cross-section study, was conducting in Public hospitals in Sana'a City-Yemen. The study was covering a sample of (95) nurses in the hospital according to the study population. Tool: Structure interview schedule: (interview questionnaire sheet) A modified version of the routine drugs administration knowledge questionnaire. Results: Out of the 95 participants, the most of study participants were worked in labor room department (45.3%), 60.0% were aged between 25 to less than 35years. Therefore, 64.2% of participants were married and 83.2% had a 3-year nursing diploma. Most participants (49.5%) had 5 to 10 years of working experience as nurses. Above half (57.9%) of the participants had attended training courses on drug administration and 56.8% had written guidelines regarding drugs administration. 16.8% of the participants had a good level of knowledge, while (64.2%) of them had a fair level of knowledge and 18.9% of them had a poor level of knowledge regarding the drug administration. Conclusion:In our study were shows the overall knowledge of nurses about drug administration is fair level. Recommendation: Nurses need to be encouraged to translate their knowledge into practice and staff members should be motivated to develop their careers by studying further and gaining more knowledge and skills in the drug administration field.
This study was purposed to explore the synergistic amelioration effect and optimal feeding time of sesame oil and squalene on hyperlipemia-induced sexual dysfunction rats. We established the hyperlipidemia-induced reproductive damage model, the three groups of test substances (sesame oil, a mixture of sesame oil and squalene, and sildenafil) were orally administrated to those hyperlipidemic rats on day 30 and day 60. The results showed that compared with the pure sesame oil, the mixture of sesame oil and squalene can synergistically decrease concentration levels of TG, TC, and LDL-C, significantly increasing the serum testosterone level and sperm count of the epididymal tail, which the 30 days’ effect was better than the day 60. Compared with the model control (MC) group, the Organ Coefficient of penile increased significantly in the sesame oil (SO), sesame oil+ Squalene (SOS), and Sildenafil (SN) group, and no pathological changes were found in the penile and testis in above three groups at the day 30 and the day 60. In conclusion, the present results demonstrated that sesame oil and squalene have a synergistic amelioration effect on lowering blood lipid and promoting the recovery of erectile and sexual function on hyperlipemia-induced reproductive damage rats at day 30. However, further studies should be carried out to deeply elucidate the molecular mechanisms of Sesame oil and squalene in lowering blood lipids and improving sexual function in vivo.
Background Literature review cited that, Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is one of the major manifestations of multiple organ failure syndromes, and is a leading cause of death in the Intensive Care Unit. Aimed this study to evaluate the effect of that an educational program on nurse's performance about acute respiratory distress syndrome. Design a quasi-experimental (pre/post-test design). Setting critical care units at Al-Thawra Modern General Hospital Authority in Sana'a-Yemen. Method Sample was (75) critical care nurses that of all nurses working in a selected setting. The tool I: Pre /Post Nurses Questionnaire, tool II: Pre /Post Observation Checklist. Results: As regard age, of nurses were > 25 years (53%), the education level, the nursing diploma was the most (72%), experience year of nurses had an experience of less than 5 years was (65.3%). The implementation of the education program revealed the improvement of critical care nurse's knowledge, practice scores, and levels regarding acute respiratory distress syndrome with high statistical significance difference between pre and postimplementation programs, (p<0.001). Conclusion, it can conclude that implementing an educational program about acute respiratory distress syndrome care is highly effective in inducing improvement in nurses' related knowledge and practice.
