Eine derartige Annahme wurde aber auf einer irrtumlichen Voraussetzung beruhen, denn bekanntermaBen wird der Siedepunkt des Wassers durch die Auflosung von Stoffen -und tatsSchlich handelt es sich bei den luftfeuchten Textilfasern urn wirkliche wasserigc Losuiigen -oft sehr erheblich in die Hohe getrieben, anderseits trocknet das Wasser sehr leicht ja auch unterhalb seines Siedepunktes weg.Ober die exakte Trocknung der Textilfasern sind schon von den verschiedensten Seiten eingehende Untersuchungen angestcllt worden, ohne dai3 diese jedoch zu einem befriedigenden Ergebnisse gefiihrt hatten. Die dabei gewonnenen Feststellungen sind zum Teil recht unzutreffend, und sie widersprechen sich vielfach auch. Eine liritische Zusammenstellung aller der zahlreichen Untersuchungen hieruber ist mehrfach schon gegeben worden, unter anderm uber die Trocknung der eine besoiidere Bedeutung kesitzenden Cellulose von M. R e nli e r a ) , und spater noch von S c h w a l b e 4 a ) . Es kann hier deshalb von einer iiochnialigen naheren Besprechung Abstand genommen werden. R e n k e r gibt selbst eine neue Trocknungsmethode an, aber auch diese an sich recht wohl ausgedachte Methode vermag nicht vollauf zu befriedigen.Der Grund fur die Unzulanglichkeit der bisherigen Trocknungsmethoden fur die verschiedenen Faserstoffe liegt vor allem darin, daD hierbei der Tatsache, dai3 die. Fasern im absolut trockenen Zustande dem Phosphorpentoxyd in ihrer Hygroskopie durchweg a d e r s t nahestehen -wie ich kiirzlich schoo dargetan habe ") -, nicht genugend Rechnung getragen morden ist. Meist wurde einfach an gewohnlicher, wasserhaltiger Luft getrocknet, an der nach meinen noch folgenden Versuchsergebnissen selbst bei 110 0 keine ausreichende Trocknung zu erzielen ist, oder aber es konnte doch der Hinzutritt von feuchter Aufienluft nach beendigter Trocknung fur die folgende Waguiig nicht vollkommen ausgeschlossen werden.
