PLANTEAMIENTQ METODOLÓGICO:Al acometer el problema de la transmisión literaria de un motivo vegetal nos proponemos un trabajo de rastreo a través de la literatura española, seleccionando textos con un criterio diacrónico donde puedan dilucidarse valores establecidos en distintos contextos. Durante el ejercicio de la exposición, nuestra atención se centrará en aquellos textos donde aparezca el motivo objeto de estudio, procedentes tanto de obras clásicas, como de tratados, diccionarios o de la poesía de corte culto y popular. En el seguimiento, el testimonio de tales textos y sus analogías demostrarán cómo, a lo largo de una dilatada tradición, la polivalencia resultante del motivo pervive en la producción literaria del siglo XX con vigoroso renuevo.La presencia del motivo "pino" en la literatura no sólo es remota sino que persiste a lo largo del tiempo y encuentra pleno acomodo en la poesía del siglo XX. Del recorrido diacrónico dan fe, cuando menos, los autores de primera fila y otros de menor consideración. Su fisonomía inmediatamente inspiró fórmulas analógicas de la anatomía humana. Ya las musas orientales comparaban el "ciprés" y el "pino" a los jóvenes por su planta erguida y su estatura. En la poesía persa de Hafiz, por ejemplo, el símil vale tanto para esbeltos muchachos: Darán placeres los de esbelta talla Hasta que entre ellos el ciprés parezca, Que, como pino cimbreante y recto, Sabe mecerse.

Teresa de Escoriaza is one of the first foreign correspondent in the spanish journalism history and was a reporter in the Melilla war in 1921. She was an active defending counsel of women rights too. Also as a professor of Spanish in EE.UU. she was a pioneer. She lived in New York during a lot of years and around it wrote some articles and a novel: El crisol de las razas (1929).
