AbstractCataloguing and study of the articles in LIEA dedicated to foriegn opera performance, opera buffa, in Madrid. It points out how the newspaper praises the most traditional works of the repertoire (and exaltation of the «zarzuela», Spanish operetta), although there are a lot of complains about the lack of innovations against more «daring» authors (like Wagner). It must also be emphasized the importance of illustrations that praise the beauty of some scenaries and the beauty and elegance of the singers. Keywords: reception and study of foreign lyric theatre.1.
