A partir de nuestra experiencia de trabajo con profesores de Matemática de enseñanza media, nos encontramos frecuentemente frente a una paradoja, por una parte, están los requerimientos del entorno educativo de la escuela media respecto a la incorporación de tecnologías informáticas a la enseñanza de la matemática, así como una cierta disponibilidad ociosa de recursos computacionales en los centros educativos y por otra parte, están las prácticas de los docentes que continúan utilizando esencialmente los recursos tradicionales: libros de texto, calculadoras, instrumentos geométricos, etc. Desde nuestro punto de vista los motivos de esta situación son de naturaleza diversa, que tienen más que ver con razones institucionales que personales. Pero, sin dudas, las cuestiones que se le plantean al docente frente a la integración de los recursos tecnológicos en los contextos de enseñanza-aprendizaje juegan un papel importante, y pueden resumirse en las siguientes preguntas: ¿Cómo y para qué incorporarlos? ¿Qué aportes realizarán a la enseñanza de la matemática? ¿Qué beneficios se obtendrán desde el punto de vista del saber? ¿Qué tipo de trabajo realizar para que la incorporación signifique un aporte?
