ResumoListagens florísticas realizadas para Angiospermas ou apenas para a família Myrtaceae no Espírito Santo apresentaram resultados divergentes com relação à riqueza de espécies de Campomanesia neste estado. O presente estudo visa elucidar esta questão a partir do desenvolvimento de uma abordagem florístico-taxonômica para o gênero no Espírito Santo. Foram analisadas coleções depositadas nos herbários CVRD, MBML, RB e VIES, e realizado trabalho de campo em localidades representativas de todas as fitofisionomias do Espírito Santo durante janeiro de 2015 a julho de 2016. Treze espécies de Campomanesia foram encontradas para o Espírito Santo. Dez dentre estas espécies tiveram sua ocorrência confirmada para o estado, duas são novas ocorrências, e uma é nova para a ciência (Campomanesia sepalifolia), sendo descrita e ilustrada nesse trabalho pela primeira vez. A caracterização morfológica das espécies foi realizada por meio de descrições e ilustrações; é apresentada uma chave dicotômica de identificação e mapas que representam a distribuição geográfica das espécies. AbstractPlant checklist made for Angiosperms or only for the family Myrtaceae in Espírito Santo presented divergent results regarding the richness of Campomanesia species in this state. The present study aims to elucidate this issue from the development of a floristic-taxonomic approach to the genus in the Espírito Santo state. Collections deposited at herbaria CVRD, MBML, RB and VIES were analyzed, and the fieldwork were made in localities representative of all the phytophysiognomies of Espírito Santo from january 2015 to july 2016. Ten of these species had their occurrence confirmed for the state, two are new records, and one is new to science (Campomanesia sepalifolia), being described and illustrated here for the first time. The morphological characterization of the species was made by descriptions and illustrations; an identification key and maps represented the species geographic distribution are provided.

The shortage of reliable primary taxonomic data limits the description of biological taxa and the understanding of biodiversity patterns and processes, complicating biogeographical, ecological, and evolutionary studies. This deficit creates a significant taxonomic impediment to biodiversity research and conservation planning. The taxonomic impediment and the biodiversity crisis are widely recognized, highlighting the urgent need for reliable taxonomic data. Over the past decade, numerous countries worldwide have devoted considerable effort to Target 1 of the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC), which called for the preparation of a working list of all known plant species by 2010 and an online world Flora by 2020. Brazil is a megadiverse country, home to more of the world's known plant species than any other country. Despite that, Flora Brasiliensis, concluded in 1906, was the last comprehensive treatment of the Brazilian flora. The lack of accurate estimates of the number of species of algae, fungi, and plants occurring in Brazil contributes to the prevailing taxonomic impediment and delays progress towards the GSPC targets. Over the past 12 years, a legion of taxonomists motivated to meet Target 1 of the GSPC, worked together to gather and integrate knowledge on the algal, plant, and fungal diversity of Brazil. Overall, a team of about 980 taxonomists joined efforts in a highly collaborative project that used cybertaxonomy to prepare an updated Flora of Brazil, showing the power of scientific collaboration to reach ambitious goals. This paper presents an overview of the Brazilian Flora 2020 and provides taxonomic and spatial updates on the algae, fungi, and plants found in one of the world's most biodiverse countries. We further identify collection gaps and summarize future goals that extend beyond 2020. Our results show that Brazil is home to 46,975 native species of algae, fungi, and plants, of which 19,669 are endemic to the country. The data compiled to date suggests that the Atlantic Rainforest might be the most diverse Brazilian domain for all plant groups except gymnosperms, which are most diverse in the Amazon. However, scientific knowledge of Brazilian diversity is still unequally distributed, with the Atlantic Rainforest and the Cerrado being the most intensively sampled and studied biomes in the country. In times of “scientific reductionism”, with botanical and mycological sciences suffering pervasive depreciation in recent decades, the first online Flora of Brazil 2020 significantly enhanced the quality and quantity of taxonomic data available for algae, fungi, and plants from Brazil. This project also made all the information freely available online, providing a firm foundation for future research and for the management, conservation, and sustainable use of the Brazilian funga and flora.

-(Floristic survey of Myrtaceae in Jacobina municipality, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia State, Brazil). Myrtaceae is a pantropical family with around 5500 species and 132 genera and is highlighted by its complex (cryptic characters) and difficult taxonomy. In Brazil, Myrtaceae is represented by 23 genera and 974 species and is one of the most representative in the Espinhaço Range. The main goal of this work was the floristic survey of Myrtaceae in Jacobina, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia. Five expeditions were conducted between June/2011 and April/2012; herbaria materials were examined in the State; and specialized references and Myrtaceae experts were consulted. Seven genera and 32 species of Myrtaceae were found and Myrcia DC. (14 spp.), Eugenia L. (nove spp.), and Psidium L. (quatro spp.) were the most representative, corresponding to 87% of total species. Myrcia blanchetiana (O. Berg) and Mattos is endemic to Bahia, two species (Eugenia rostrata O. Berg and Psidium brownianum DC.) are new occurrence to Jacobina and a new species of Myrcia has been recognized. Generic and specific keys are presented, as well as discussion about the morphology and geographical distribution of the taxa. (quatro spp.) foram os gêneros mais representativos, correspondendo a 87% do total de espécies. ABSTRACT(Application of morpho-anatomical leaf characters in Campomanesia Ruiz & Pavón (Myrtaceae) taxonomy). To evaluate the utility of morpho-anatomical leaf characters in the identifi cation of botanic material of Campomanesia Ruiz & Pavón, especially when sterile, leaf venation pattern and shape of the vascular arch in the petiole of 15 taxa in Bahia state were analysed. Th e camptodromous-brochydodromous secondary venation pattern was uniform among the taxa, as well as the ultimate marginal venation in arches and orthogonal reticulate tertiary venation. Diff erences were observed in the presence of intersecondary veins and areolation in the leaf blade, and shape of the vascular arch and nature of the vascular bundle sheaths in the petiole, characters that could be used for taxonomic purposes.

Resumo Myrtaceae está representada no Brasil por 23 gêneros e 974 espécies e é uma das famílias mais representativas na Cadeia do Espinhaço. A Serra Geral é um dos soerguimentos que compõem o Espinhaço Setentrional e representa uma lacuna florística na região. Desta forma o objetivo deste trabalho foi produzir o inventário florístico e o estudo taxonômico para a família Myrtaceae na Serra Geral de Licínio de Almeida, Bahia. Foram realizadas excursões ao campo entre 2012 e 2015 e os materiais foram depositados nos herbários HUEFS e ALCB. Foram reconhecidos oito gêneros e 43 espécies, sendo Psidium o gênero mais diverso (14 spp.), seguido de Eugenia (10 spp.), Myrcia (oito spp.), Myrciaria (cinco spp.) e Campomanesia (três spp.); Blepharocalyx, Calyptranthes e Plinia foram representados por uma espécie cada. Psidium rhombeum e Psidium ganevii são endêmicas da Bahia, enquanto que Calyptranthes clusiifolia é uma nova ocorrência para áreas serranas na Bahia. São apresentados uma chave de identificação específica, descrições e comentários, além de fotos e ilustrações diagnósticas.

Results of studies with multiple approaches involving a species complex which includes Campomanesia xanthocarpa (Myrtaceae) indicate that specimens collected in Morro do Chapéu, the northern region of the Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, are distinct from those distributed farther south in Brazil. A description, comments, distribution map and an illustration of the new species, C. costata, are provided herein.
