Hithert,o used met, hods concerning the measurement of micrometer particle size, amount and velocity are mainly based on lasers with scattered light or reflection methods. The here described method evaluating the particle charge roiild represeiit an additional powerful method which allows particle measurements in high concentrated air flows, or single particle measurements by high volume flux rates. At the beginning of this paper principles of D measuring are discussed with the aim to perform highly sensitive charge measurements. As some appplicat ion exam les, measurements are presented concerning point sensors t r particle velocity measurements in a circulating fluidized bed and a particle counter which is able to detect particles down to 2 pin diameter due to their electric charge. Furthermore an aerosol analyzer based on the same measurement principle will be disriissed. This analyzer will give qualitative statements on particle sizes and particle densities in aerosols with particle dianieters of 10 ...SO0 nin and concentrations of 106 ... 1012 parts/m3 .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
