Palavras-Chave: Aprendizagem, Aprendizagem Organizacional, Educação a Distância. ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING FROM PRACTICE ABOUT DISTANCE LEARNING OF BUSINEES SCHOOL/UFRGS ABSTRACTStudies on Learning and Distance Education are found in various forms of publication. However, the articulation between these areas is still an open field for debates. To enhance this discussion, the purpose of this study is to analysis the way that has been occurred the organizational learning in the EA/UFRGS, after the experiences of the courses in distance in the period of 2005 to 2010. We used a qualitative case study method to analyze these four online courses at UFRGS. Data were obtained through participant observation and documentation and analyzed through the use of qualitative interpretive analysis technique. Information was collected through participant observation and was analyzed thru a qualitative interpretative technique. Findings showed that a series of practices and roles were set and changed much more as a result of trial and error process than as a result of coordinated and planned actions done by the on-line staff group. We inferred that UFRGS online course management practices that were adopted resulted in organizational learning. However, an integrated discussion and routine evaluation between the managers of the four analyzed courses could bring more benefits to the Business School, reducing the administrative and teaching subjectivity. Keywords: Learning, Organizational Learning, Distance Learning. Firms are constantly improving their activities in order to become more competitive. With the diffusion of international competition and easier access to global markets, effective logistic and inventory management strategies become essential to all players. In this sense, there is a clear tradeoff between inventory costs and service level. A common strategy to address this issue is to locate distribution centers (DC) near key markets. However, the decision to build new DCs must be supported by clear and convincing analysis. In this context, this paper reports the use of cost-volume-profit analysis to assess the viability of establishing a new DC by a real company that manufactures radiopharmaceutical products. The researchers collected and analysed detailed financial information from the company and compared the current scenario with potential future scenarios using the cost-volume-profit technique. Next, expected firm profitability is compared for two scenarios: with and without the new DC.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the influence of a Support Program to Innovative Entrepreneurship on the competitive development of the supported companies. We carried out a study about the PRIME Program – First Innovative Company –, realized by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) of Brazil and its Studies and Projects Financing agency (FINEP), in partnership with Incubators, from the standpoint of the companies favored by the program, with a focus on competitive development and local development. Therefore, we decided to apply a qualitative study of multiple cases on the companies selected through RAIAR incubator, of Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS). The data analysis helped understand the impact of the program on the studied companies, as well as observe the indicators that were mostly influenced by the program. The results may contribute to the National Innovation Systems (SNI) and related public policies.
