Soll ein Netzwerk zum Beispiel kartellrechtlich bewertet werden, ist es wichtig zu wissen, was diese Netzwerke ausmacht, denn nur so ist eine Abgrenzung gegenüber anderen kartellrechtlichen Konstellationen möglich. Ähnliches gilt für die rechtliche Koordinierung eines Netzwerks. Um eine adäquate Koordinierung zu erreichen und somit zu gewährleisten, dass das Netzwerk effizient arbeitet, muss geklärt werden, ob netzwerkspezifische Mechanismen auf das betrachtete Gebilde auch angewendet werden können.
