As taxas de denudação correspondem ao volume de material proveniente da alteração das ro chas retirado de uma determinada área em um dado período de tempo 6RXFK da taxa de denudação geoquímica, que, de modo geral, apresentou-se baixa devido a alta resistência dos quartzitos -litologia predominante. Os resultados demonstraram que, apesar da relativa homogeneidade litológica, a área apresenta uma denudação geoquímica diferencial, onde: (i) EDFLDV TXH GUHQDP URFKDV FDUERQiWLFDV SRVVXHP WD[DV PDLV HOHYDGDV GH GHQXGDomR FRQ¿UPDQGR D DOWD solubilidade desse material, (ii) bacias que drenam unidades quartzíticas apresentam taxas baixas de denudação, principalmente aquelas sobre as formações Galho do Miguel e Sopa-Brumadinho. Denudation rates represent the volume of material from the DOWHUDWLRQ RI URFNV WDNHQ IURP D VSHFL¿HG DUHD DW D NQRZQ WLPH SHULRG 6RXFK 7KHVH UDWHV DUH strongly controlled by geological substrate, especially in less extensive watersheds. The method adopted is based on sampling of surface waters of sixteen sub-basins -that have low human interference and GUDLQ SUHGRPLQDQWO\ TXDUW]LWH DQG PHDVXULQJ WKH VDPSOHG FKDQQHOV ÀRZ &KHPLFDO DQDO\VLV RI VXUIDFH water collected in the humid and dry periods of the year were used to calculate geochemical denudation, which generally showed low in spite of the predominant rock resistance to weathering and denudational processes. The results showed that despite the relatively homogeneous lithology, the area does not hide WKH ¿QGLQJ RI D GLIIHUHQWLDO JHRFKHPLFDO GHQXGDWLRQ ZKHUH L EDVLQV WKDW GUDLQ FDUERQDWH URFNV KDYH KLJKHU GHQXGDWLRQ UDWHV FRQ¿UPLQJ WKH KLJK VROXELOLW\ RI WKLV PDWHULDO LL EDVLQV GUDLQLQJ TXDUW]LWH units show low denudation rates, especially the ones over the formations of Galho do Miguel and Sopa-Brumadinho.
ResumoO presente trabalho investigou a evolução do relevo da média Serra do Espinhaço Meridional (SdEM), região que delimita três das mais importantes bacias hidrográfi cas do sudeste brasileiro: à oeste, a do rio São Francisco e, à leste, as dos rios Doce e Jequitinhonha. Os procedimentos metodológicos basearam-se na utilização de dois tipos de análises. A primeira baseou-se em observações de campo e em análises cartográfi cas e visou reconhecer áreas onde os processos erosivos eram mais ativos. A segunda objetivou mensurar a atual denudação geoquímica em 16 bacias hidrográfi cas que se localizam nas duas vertentes da média SdEM. Os resultados demonstram que a litologia predominante -quartzito -é extremamente resistente aos processos intempéricos e desnudacionais e que o arcabouço litoestrutural controla os processos desnudacionais da área investigada. Demonstram ainda que, embora a vertente leste apresente relevo mais dissecado, fato que indica que no passado nesta vertente os processos desnudacionais eram mais intensos, é na vertente oeste que, atualmente, os processos desnudacionais geoquímicos são mais agressivos.
