Diante do cenário desafiador e visando compreender as condições clínicas nas quais os doentes chegam à atenção primária, desperta-se o interesse em conhecer critérios diagnósticos que os cirurgiões-dentistas utilizam na atenção básica. Visando a melhoria do serviço de saúde bucal, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar os critérios dos cirurgiões-dentistas do município de Recife\PE no diagnóstico das alterações pulpares e periapicais. Para tal, foi realizado um estudo quantitativo-descritivo e transversal, por meio de questionário online aplicado aos profissionais das Unidades Básicas de Saúde. Foram inclusos na pesquisa cirurgiões-dentistas devidamente formados e registrados no Conselho Regional de Odontologia (CRO-PE) que atuam na Atenção Básica do município de Recife. Após análise dos resultados, os pontos considerados insuficientes e em patamar mediano podem ser corrigidos e ampliados através do fomento ao aprimoramento, que foi uma das questões demandadas pelos profissionais, que se demonstraram dispostos a promoção de qualificação, mesmo reconhecido por parte desses profissionais que dominam estes conhecimentos. Concluiu-se que os cirurgiões-dentistas apresentam um nível de conhecimento médio sobre o diagnóstico das doenças pulpares e periapicais, tendo alguns critérios de semiologia e semiotécnicas apresentados níveis insuficientes de conhecimento.
O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a remoção da pasta de hidróxido de cálcio de canais simulados curvos utilizando a Easy Clean®. Foram utilizados 50 blocos de acrílico com canais laterais curvos simulados nos terços cervical, médio e apical. Os blocos foram preparados com o sistema ProDesign Logic®. Inicialmente foram explorados com uma lima k-file 10mm até a saída do forame. Em seguida foi definida a Glide Path e a patência – Lima Glide 25.01 e a modelagem final foi realizada com a lima 25.05 até o comprimento de trabalho. O procedimento de irrigação foi realizado com soro fisiológico em todo o preparo do canal artificial com uma seringa descartável e agulha NaviTip® (NaviTip®, Ultradent®, Brasil). Ao concluir o preparo dos canais, os espécimes foram secos com cones de papel absorvente. A pasta de hidróxido de cálcio foi inserida nos canais em toda a sua extensão. Para a remoção da pasta de hidróxido de cálcio foi realizada a agitação da solução irrigadora por 20 segundos com o auxílio do instrumento Easy Clean® acoplado a um contra-ângulo acionado na baixa rotação. Esse protocolo foi repetido por 3 vezes, totalizando 9 ml de solução irrigadora e 1 minuto de agitação. Em 40 blocos de resina (95% da amostra) houve limpeza total após a irrigação e utilização do Easy Clean®. Em 10 blocos (5% da amostra) permaneceu UltraCal XS®, principalmente no terço apical dos blocos. Concluiu-se que a irrigação com agitação da Easy Clean® remove efetivamente resíduos da medicação intracanal dos terços cervical e médio dos canais, exceto do terço apical, que ainda apresentou uma quantidade considerável de resíduos.
A presença de micro-organismos nos canais são um dos fatores mais relevantes no insucesso do tratamento endodôntico, sendo fundamental seu controle e eliminação. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar, in vitro, a atividade antimicrobiana do óleo essencial do alecrim associado ao hidróxido de cálcio, determinando a concentração inibitória mínima (CIM) e concentração bactericida mínima (CBM). Os grupos experimentais foram divididos em 7: CN (controle negativo); CP (controle positivo); CC (controle de crescimento); CE (controle de esterilidade); AL - Rosmarinus officinalis; HAL -hidróxido de cálcio e Rosmarinus officinalis; HC – hidróxido de cálcio e água destilada. Após a revitalização das cepas de Enterococcus faecalis (ATCC 14506), os testes para atividade antibacteriana foram realizados por meio da microdiluição em caldo a fim de definir a Concentração Inibitória Mínima (CIM) e a Concentração Bactericida Mínima (CBM). O ensaio foi realizado em triplicata, e as placas de microdiluição foram incubadas em anaerobiose na estufa de 5% de CO2 à 37ºC durante 24 horas. Os resultados foram avaliados de forma descritiva e qualitativa. A CIM dos grupos experimentais testados variou de 5,5 a 229,74 mg/ml. Apenas o grupo HAL demonstrou resultado significativo quando comparados aos demais grupos testados, sendo o único resultado encontrado na faixa da CIM de 0 a 100. Pode-se observar que o hidróxido de cálcio não apresentou efetividade contra cepas de E. faecalis, entretanto associado ao óleo essencial de alecrim diminui a CBM e CIM deste, propiciando uma atividade antimicrobiana satisfatória.
Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar a percepção dos estudantes da Faculdade de Odontologia de Pernambuco sobre o uso do aplicativo Google Classroom, como ferramenta de apoio ao ensino-aprendizagem durante o período suplementar letivo trans pandêmico. A amostra foi composta por 100 alunos do primeiro ao décimo período. O formulário on-line foi constituído por 19 itens de múltipla escolha e os resultados foram tabulados pela própria plataforma em planilhas (via Google Sheets), sendo visualizados em gráficos. Para tanto, os estudantes tiveram acesso ao convite da pesquisa através de um link do formulário on-line, que foi encaminhado pelo pesquisador por meio de mensagens aos grupos de WhatsApp das turmas de estudantes. Os dados foram analisados mediante estatística descritiva (média e desvio padrão, valor máximo e mínimo), considerando como nível de significância p-valor ≤ 0,05 para um intervalo de confiança de 95%. Os estudantes da Faculdade de Odontologia de Pernambuco aprovaram a usabilidade e interação do aplicativo Google Classroom como ferramenta virtual de ensino-aprendizagem, mostrando-se adequado e eficaz, quando utilizado nas disciplinas cursadas no período letivo suplementar, durante a pandemia da COVID-19.
