The participants talked about issues that were not addressed in personal consultations, and could see themselves through the stories of others, thus realizing they were not alone and that others also experienced the same difficulties as them. Through empathy and the accounts of others, participants built knowledge and practices for their own daily lives. Final Considerations: The conversation map enables professionals to empower patients with diabetes, promoting self-care and ensuring better control over the disease, in order to prevent or delay the onset of related complications.
APLICABILIDADE DE INOVAÇÕES E TECNOLOGIAS ASSISTENCIAIS APPLICABILITY OF ASSISTIVE INNOVATIONS AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR PATIENT SAFETY: INTEGRATIVE REVIEWABSTRACT: The present study aimed to identify the technologies used by nurses to promote patient safety in hospital settings. Integrative review, with search of articles in databases in the health area, from January to February, 2016. Twenty articles were selected and sorted according to the assistive technologies used. In the promotion of patient safety, nurses use hard technologiesimplementation of electronic records, automated drug infusion pumps, sensors and computer-based monitoring systems. They also incorporate good practices in health -construction of instruments targeted to patient safety and identification of risks, and promote/ participate in professional training courses -calculation and administration of medications and intravenous infusions and hand hygiene. It is concluded that nursing professionals are concerned with patient safety, which reinforces the need to conduct further studies on the use of relevant strategies. PREVALÊNCIA DO DIAGNÓSTICO DE ENFERMAGEM NUTRIÇÃO DESEQUILIBRADA EM HIPERTENSOS PREVALENCE OF NURSING DIAGNOSIS IMBALANCED NUTRITION IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTSABSTRACT: The present study aimed to investigate the prevalence of Nursing Diagnosis Imbalanced Nutrition: more than bodyrequirements in hypertensive patients. Exploratory, descriptive study, with a quantitative approach, with 90 hypertensive patientsmonitored in a secondary care unit. Data collection was performed in 2015 through the administration of a questionnaire onsociodemographic, anthropometric and clinical characteristics of the patients. Categorical variables were summarized by descriptive statistics of frequencies (absolute and relative). Associations between major defining characteristics and diagnosis of imbalanced nutrition wereassessed by Pearson's chi-square test. The referred diagnosis was observed in 82 (91.1%) of the participants, since they presented at least one of the two major defining characteristics: "tricepsskinfold thickness" (p<0.001)or "overweight(20% over their ideal weight)"(p<0.001). The role of nurses in the promotion of strategies aimed to introduce changes in nutritional behavior and the practice of physical activity, contributing to reducing the rates of the referred nursing diagnosis, was demonstrated. Adequate management of diabetes requires professional improvement programs. This study aimed to analyze the effect of a simulation activity on the acquisition of knowledge about blood glucose monitoring and hypoglycemia management. The study employed a pre-post intervention approach and was carried out in a university hospital located in Brazil. The participants were 82 graduating nursing students and nursing professionals studying/working at the university hospital. The intervention consisted of theoretical sessions, a practical simulation about glycemic monitoring and hypoglycemia management, and the pre- and post-tests. The simulation consisted of a rubber hand mannequin that allows simulating the glucose testing. There was a significant increase in knowledge after intervention with the total number of correct answers increasing from 186 in the pre-test to 326 in the post-test (+140, p < .001). The intervention was effective in increasing the participants' knowledge about glycemic monitoring and hypoglycemia management, favoring a better nursing care for people with diabetes.
