Three wild strains of C. acutatum have been investigated for their phytotoxic secondary metabolites involved in anthracnose disease. In addition to known compounds, a new macrolide 6 has been isolated and characterized by spectroscopic analysis.
Synthesis and Free Radical Scavenging Activity of a Novel Metabolite from the Fungus Colletotrichum gloeosporioides. -The structure of the title compound (-)-(I) is proved by synthesis using ring-closing metathesis and stereoselective dihydroxylation as the key steps. (-)-(I) shows free radical scavenging activity comparable to that of BHT, caffeic acid and protocatechuic acid. -(FEMENIA-RIOS, M.; GARCIA-PAJON, C. M.; HERNANDEZ-GALAN, R.; MACIAS-SANCHEZ, A.
