Editar Les Visions del Sieur de la Geneste, “traducción” de los Sueños, es a la vez editar un texto de Quevedo y una obra burlesca francesa de principios del siglo XVII. Se estudia en la ponencia el problema del texto base, de las variantes y de la anotación, así como del cotejo entre los Sueños y Les Visions.
La reseña resalta la Lectura del Buscón de Alfonso Rey, donde se analiza la novela picaresca de Francisco de Quevedo. Este libro se divide en once etapas. Las ocho primeras se centran en el análisis de elementos externos a la obra, mientras que las restantes profundizan en la narración en sí de la novela y en todas sus características. Por ejemplo, en el primer bloque se enfoca en las interpretaciones de la obra, las distintas ediciones y publicaciones, la actitud de Quevedo ante el texto, la picaresca y las ideologías presentes. Tras esto, Rey se zambulle en el libro y comenta la estructura narrativa, los temas, los personajes y la influencia de la obra. Es un estudio digno de leerse, honrado y muy preciso.
El análisis del soneto número 516 de Quevedo nos permite acercarnos a la creación quevediana y entender cómo lo que es apariencia y carece de ser (una mujer-con-guardainfante) se vuelve realidad poética y adquiere un ser y un valor mediante el acto creador.
