The novel GII.P17-GII.17 norovirus genotype has been reported as cause of gastroenteritis outbreaks in China and Japan since the winter season 2014/15, replacing the pandemic strain GII.4 Sydney 2012. These emergent strains have also been sporadically reported on other continents than Asia. GII.P17-GII.17 isolates, similar to Kawasaki308 2015, were identified in three patients during a large outbreak of acute gastroenteritis affecting 328 people in Romania, in neighbouring localities, in 2015.
The new Civil Code in Romania, valid since 1.10.2011, introduces a set of legal regulations regarding the contracting procedures by the use of electronic means. Teaching aspects related to the Electronic Contract is a real challenge in the field of education, needing collaboration between jurists, economists and computer specialists. The study aims at designing and testing a didactic approach to the Electronic Contract vs Classical or Traditional Contract in order to give a comprehensive understanding for traders and students. The target group consists of Long Life Learning students in economics and law. The main result of the work is the related section in the course book itself, including a theoretical part, examples, explanations and practice aid. A preliminary research, by applying a short questionnaire, reveals that after one year of teaching (2 series), 42% of students used at least one of the forms of the electronic contracting -either as one of the contracting parties or in their practice.
The aim of this paper is to present a comprehensive survey of cubic Fibonacci identities, trying to uncover as many as possible. From the outset, our rationale for a very careful search on an apparently obscure problem was not only a matter of mathematical curiosity, but also motivated by a quest for 3D Fibonacci spirals.As we were not able to find any survey on the particular topic of cubic Fibonacci identities we decided to try to fill this void. We started by surveying many Fibonacci identities and recording cubic ones. Obviously, tracing all Fibonacci identities (for identifying a handful) is a daunting task. Checking several hundred we have realized that it is not always clear who the author is. The reason is that in many cases an identity was stated in one article (sometimes without a proof, e.g., as an open problem, or a conjecture) while later being proven in another article, or effectively rediscovered independently by other authors. However, we have done our best to present the identities chronologically. We have supplied our own proof for one identity, having tried, but failed, to find a published proof. For all the other identities, we either proved them on a computer, or else verified by hand their original published proofs. Somehow unexpectedly, our investigations have revealed only a rather small number of cubic Fibonacci identities, representing a tiny fraction of all published Fibonacci identities (most of which are linear or quadratic). Finally, out of these, only a handful of cubic Fibonacci identities are homogeneous.
<p>When the first articles about the SemanticWeb (SW) appeared, there were hardly any signals that the next revolution would be related to social networking. Social networking services (SNS) have grown after MySpace, LinkedIn and Facebook were launched in 2003- 2004 and combine text, images, movies, music, animations and all sorts of lists to create personal presentation pages for users, means to connect to real or virtual friends from all over the world and recommendations based on trust. The rise of the Social Semantic Web and the convergence of different media to create rich experiences is one of the most interesting paradigm shift in the last decades because the probable effect of this movement is the fact that in one day virtual meetings will become legitimate in all aspects of our daily lives (if they are not already). The most important question in this context (the one that we try to answer in this paper) is related to how people will try to shape and use their avatars. In order to understand this, we will study the links between multimodal ontologies, affective interfaces, social data portability and other recent findings.<br /> This paper starts with a survey of the current literature of the field, examines some social semantic web mechanisms that changed the way we think about SNs and in the end discusses some methods of connecting emotions with the social semantic web which pose some interesting questions related to the use of avatars. Between conclusions, one of the most interesting is the one that states that the use of affective interfaces adds value to the multimodal ontologies, while another suggests that the avatar must be a mediator between different technologies.</p>
European cooperation is a relevant subject that contributes to building a competitive network of high education institutions. A case of teacher mobility on behalf of the Erasmus programme is presented: it considers some Operations Research topics and the development of the Lego on My Decision module. The module considers eight lecture hours in four sessions: (i) the introductory session, to focus on the basics of computational linear algebra, linear programming, integer programming, with computational support (Excel ® ); (ii) the interim session, to address modelling subjects in a drop by-session; (iii) the advanced session, on the sequence of (i), to consider uncertainty and also how to use multi-criteria decisionmaking methods; (iv) the final session, to perform the evaluation of learning outcomes. This cooperation at European level is further exploited, including curricula normalisation and adjustments, cultural exchanges and research lines sharing in the idea of promoting the mobility of students and faculty.
Purpose This study shows the epidemiological profile of the first gastroenteritis outbreak of GII.P17 in the Romanian territory. An outbreak with such large amplitude in a European territory was previously undocumented. Patients and methods Using a cross-sectional design, with the susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) deterministic compartmental model for a fixed population, and the cluster method for establishing the high-incidence zones, we carried out our investigation by means of questionnaires containing personal data, affected collectivities, disease onset and duration, symptoms displayed, medical assistance provided, previous antibiotic intake where applicable, food consumption and water sources, and sanitation conditions. The confirmation of cases was done based on the typical norovirus gastroenteritis symptomatology and using three laboratory confirmations (by molecular diagnosis) for GII.P17-GII.17 genotype noroviruses from three patients. Results A gastroenteritis outbreak occurred in October–November 2015, affecting 328 people in Arad, a county in Western Romania, covering 44 neighbouring localities with a total population of 35,440 people. The study detected an inter-human transmission of the infection, with an intrafamilial risk of disease of 2.26 (95% CI 1.76 to 2.90) compared with the community transmission (in school collectivity). The basic reproduction number Ro dropped from 1.26 to 0.18 during weeks 43:44, after controlling the transmission by decontamination and isolation. Conclusion SIR made it possible to highlight the expansion of the emerging norovirus strain infection from community to family collectivities. This study provides practical solutions to limit disease cases, even in the absence of etiology, and shows the importance of sometimes underestimated traditional control methods.
