El presente artículo corresponde a una revisión de veinte investigaciones centradas en indagar las diversas relaciones existentes entre autoconcepto y desempeño académico. La búsqueda se enfocó en estudios publicados en lengua castellana presentes en diversas bases de datos. La organización de la información consideró como criterio la categorización de los participantes. Los resultados apuntan a que los estudios en general evidencian relaciones entre autoconcepto y rendimiento académico, donde el autoconcepto sería uno de los múltiples factores que inciden en el desempeño. Asimismo, existen condiciones que modulan estas relaciones: género, contexto educativo, situación de discapacidad, entre otros. Estos hallazgos tienen relevancia para el diseño de estrategias que permitan mejorar el desempeño académico, considerando el autoconcepto del estudiantado
La presente investigación tuvo como principal objetivo conocer la percepción del profesorado sobre el autoconcepto académico y rendimiento escolar en estudiantes adolescentes con necesidades educativas especiales transitorias (NEET). El estudio fue llevado a cabo con un enfoque cualitativo y con un diseño transversal, a través de una entrevista semiestructurada a ocho profesionales de la educación regular y diferencial de cuatro establecimientos municipales y particulares de la ciudad de Osorno. Entre los principales resultados se encontró que el profesorado manifestó, en general, que perciben un autoconcepto académico más bien bajo en sus estudiantes con NEET, con tendencia a ser cambiante, inestable y voluble a lo largo del tiempo y dependiendo de asignaturas, el cual reconocen es influenciado por factores personales y ambientales. En cuanto al rendimiento académico, los(as) profesionales señalaron que este es variable a través del tiempo, influyendo factores tanto extrínsecos como intrínsecos. El profesorado destacó, además una relación bidireccional entre el autoconcepto académico y el rendimiento académico de estos(as) estudiantes. Por último, entregaron una serie de sugerencias para potenciar estas variables ya sea a nivel de aula y a nivel institucional.
