Entomology Journal publishes original research papers and reviews from any entomological discipline or from directly allied fields in ecology, behavioral biology, Various type of sticky traps is frequently used for monitoring the sucking pests like jassid, aphid, whitefly, and thrips. Light traps and pheromones traps are species specific and commonly used for capturing the moths such as Spodoptera litura, Helicoverpa armigera and Leucinodes orbonalis. The sucking and chewing are very destructive pests of various crops such as cotton, cabbage, brinjal, okra, tomato and onion all over the world, Insect pests are controlled by various methods but insecticides are commonly used method to control these pests. A filed experiment was conducted to determine the attraction of insect pests to different sticky traps like red, blue, yellow, orange, pale yellow-green and white while light and pheromone traps also installed to capture the Spodoptera litura, Helicoverpa armigera and Leucinodes orbonalis moths during 2019. The study showed that that yellow sticky traps were the most effective for monitoring and managing thrips and whiteflies in cotton crops. In brinjal crop, the highest adult population of thrips, whitefly, jassid, and aphid was 139, 13, 29 and 13 per card, respectively were recorded on green traps. Light traps and pheromone traps were proved effective control against chewing insect pests especially Spodoptera litura followed by Helicoverpa armigera and Leucinodes orbonalis. The current study concluded that eco-friendly and natural approaches such as use of traps are helpful in pest management on agricultural crops.
This study evaluates the performance of magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) of aluminum alloy in terms of achieving materials removal (MR). A vertical milling machine is used to perform the finishing process using a developed MAF unit that consists of an inductor made out of a 150 mm long and 20 mm diameter iron core wound with 1500 turns and 0.5 mm copper wire. The commutator and magnetic pole are attached at the top and bottom of the inductor, respectively. The required current is supplied using a DC power supply. The South Pole workpiece is a 100×50×3 mm3 plate of AA 1100 aluminum alloy, whereas the magnetic pole represented the North Pole. Pole rotational speed, applied current, and abrasive finishing time was selected as input parameters of the MAF with three-level of (270, 600. 930 rpm; 0.5, 1, 1.5 Amp; 6,9,12 min). The L9 orthogonal array of the Taguchi method was utilized to examine the impact of each independent input. The obtained results clarify that applied current was the most effective factor in terms of its contribution (63.16%) in the produced MR, followed by time finishing and rotational speed.
Abdominal pain is a common presentation in the outpatient setting. Patients presenting to the emergency department with RUQ pain are often diagnosed with acute cholecystitis. The spectrum of diseases is also associated with RUQ pain including choledocholithiasis, biliary colic and liver pathologies. Ultrasoundis the first-line imaging modality opted to diagnose the cause of RUQ pain. More than one-third of patients suspected of having acute cholecystitis and right upper quadrant pain after the initial clinical evaluation are ultimately proved to have a different diagnosis. The objective of this study is to find sonographic findings in patients with acute RUQ pain and establish reasons of using Ultrasound in these circumstances. Material and Method: A total of 385 cases who were presented with RUQ pain in Sanabil Health Services Hospital were included in this descriptive observational study. 190 were female and 195 were male with a mean age of 44.7±13.4 years. A thorough scan of complete abdomen was done and results were analyzed through IBM SPSS statistics 28.0 version 2021. Results:Out of total 385 patients, 91 patients (23.6%) were suffering from cholelithiasis and only 19 (5.0%) of them had cholecystitis which are major causes of right upper quadrant pain. Majority of patients (26.8%) were diagnosed with Fatty liver disease, Obstructive kidney disease (17.4%) and a significant number of patients (14.5%) were also normal on Ultrasound scan. Conclusion:The Ultrasonographic diagnosis of majority of patients who are presented with right upper quadrant pain is fatty liver disease and other pathologies which are known to not cause any pain in right upper quadrant
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
