Descritores ABSTRACTObjective: Describe the benefits of the hydrotherapy in the patient with stroke, through the physical properties of the water reducing this way the sequels left by that pathology. Methodology: Review literature and descriptive character with use of indirect source. Was approached about definition, physiopathology, epidemiology, the risks factors, classification and it´s clinical manifestations caused by the stroke and about the definition, physical properties of water, benefits, therapeutic and physiological adaptation pool, contraindications for the entrance in the pool and the hydrotherapy applied to patients with sequels stroke. Results: The hydrotherapy is a new and innovative technique of treatment being studied scientifically in various types of treatment, and it offers benefits that go far beyond the physical rehabilitation. Conclusion: The hydrotherapy provided an improvement in the quality and prospect of life for these patients. Providing a faster return to their daily activities, leaving them as independent as possible.
