Abstract: Assuming that language is a healing space for oppressed and marginalized peoples (HOOKS, 2013), the objective of the article is to propose a dialogue between apparently antagonistic concepts and proposals: the regulation of educational pedagogies, in Maroy's terms ( 2010, 2013,2018) and the need to defend deaf culture through sign language, in the terms of Silva (2000), Quadros (2005), Skliar (2006,2017) and Perlin (2005). We will use, for this purpose, texts from the cited authors, critically analyzing them and pointing out intersections from which we can produce new knowledge. It becomes relevant to reflect on regulation as a possibility to strengthen the deaf culture. We observed the need to defend the Brazilian sign language as the mother tongue of the deaf population and the possibility of transgression based on regulation. We conclude that the contradictory and conflicting character of the regulation can be transformed into a transgression that creates a school space also aimed at creating a learning community based on the deaf culture. Keywords: regulation; Brazilian sign language; transgression; deaf culture.
