Abstract

RESUMO:O objetivo desta pesquisa descritiva foi conhecer a percepção dos profissionais de saúde que trabalham em Unidade de Terapia Intensiva Pediátrica em relação ao processo de morte e morrer. O estudo foi realizado no período de junho a agosto de 2011, os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevista estruturada e submetidos à análise estatística. Dos 25 participantes, 72% percebem a morte como um processo natural da vida, 60% sentem compaixão, sentimento que não interfere no cuidado ao paciente, 52% relataram não terem recebido preparo algum sobre o processo de morte e morrer e 76% manifestaram interesse em realizar cursos de atualização sobre o tema. É necessária maior discussão acerca da formação acadêmica, e a oferta de atividades educativas e espaço para a troca de experiências, para que os trabalhadores possam melhor compreender e lidar com sentimentos e limitações perante a morte. The study was undertaken between June and August 2011, with data collected through structured interviews and subjected to statistical analysis. Of the 25 participants, 72% perceived death as a natural process of life, 60% felt compassion -a feeling that did not interfere in caring for the patient, 52% related that they had not received any preparation about the process of death or dying and 76% showed interest in taking a refresher course on the issue. Greater discussion is necessary about academic training, and the offer of educational activities and space for exchanging experiences, such that the workers may better understand and deal with feelings and limitations regarding death. Objective:To identify the occurrence of surgical site infection (SSI) and its risk factors in patients undergoing colon surgery in a tertiary hospital located in the countryside of the state of São Paulo. Method: Retrospective cohort study, with collection of information contained in the medical records of patients undergoing colon surgery in the period between January 2010 and December 2013. The studied variables were the possible risk factors related to the patient, to demographic characteristics and the surgical procedure. Results: In total, were evaluated 155 patients with an overall SSI incidence of 16.7%. A statistically significant association was found both in the univariate as in the multivariate analysis between the SSI and the following variables: male gender, Charlson index and mechanical bowel preparation. Conclusion: The understanding of health professionals about the factors that influence the incidence of SSI in colon surgery may contribute to the quality of care provided to surgical patients, from effective actions to minimize the risk of infections. Objetivo: Avaliar o nível da Síndrome de burnout nos profissionais de Enfermagem na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva. Metodologia: Estudo quantitativo e transversal, realizado com 47 profissionais de Enfermagem que trabalham na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva de um hospital publico de alta complexidade, no período de Abril a Outubro de 2012. Utilizou-se um questionário estruturado autoaplicável acrescido do Maslach Burnout Inventory, analizou-se por regressão logística pelo teste de Wald. Resultado: 74,5% dos profissionais obtiveram um alto nível para exaustão, 93,7% baixo nível para realização profissional e 93,7% alto nível para despersonalização. Considerações finais: O ambiente intensivista é propício para o desenvolvimento da Síndrome.

OBJECTIVE: to evaluate the structure, process and results of the Capillary Blood Glucose Self-monitoring Program in a Brazilian city. METHOD: epidemiological, cross-sectional study. The methodological framework of Donabedian was used to construct indicators of structure, process and outcome. A random sample (n = 288) of users enrolled and 96 health professionals who worked in the program was studied. Two questionnaires were used that were constructed for this study, one for professionals and one for users, both containing data for the evaluation of structure, process and outcome. Anthropometric measures and laboratory results were collected by consulting the patients' health records. The analysis involved descriptive statistics. RESULTS: most of the professionals were not qualified to work in the program and were not knowledgeable about the set of criteria for patient registration. None of the patients received complete and correct orientations about the program and the percentage with skills to perform conducts autonomously was 10%. As regards the result indicators, 86.4% of the patients and 81.3% of the professionals evaluated the program positively. CONCLUSION: the evaluation indicators designed revealed that one of the main objectives of the program, self-care skills, has not been achieved.
