A new xanthone (2), 3-(2-hydroxyethoxy)xanthone, and three known compounds, 1-hydroxyxanthone, salicylic acid and the sesquiterpene oplopanone, were isolated for the first time from the rhizomes of Hedychium gardnerianum Rosc. The structures of these compounds were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectral analysis, including 2D NMR experiments.
BackgroundBeing overweight is associated with both higher systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) during pregnancy and increased risk of gestational hypertensive disorders. The objective of this study was to determine and quantify the effect of body mass index (BMI) on mean arterial pressure (MAP) at several time points throughout pregnancy in normotensive (NT) and chronic hypertensive pregnant (HT) women.MethodsA prospective longitudinal study was carried out in 461 singleton pregnancies (429 low-risk and 32 with chronic arterial hypertension), with measurements taken at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimesters and at delivery. Linear mixed-effects regression models were used to evaluate the time-progression of BMI, SBP, DBP and MAP during pregnancy (NT vs. HT). The longitudinal effect of BMI on MAP, adjusted for the hypertensive status, was investigated by the same methodology.ResultsBMI consistently increased with time in both NT and HT women. In contrast, MAP decreased during the first half of pregnancy, after which it increased until the moment of delivery in both groups. A 5-unit increase in BMI was predicted to produce an increase of approximately 1 mmHg in population MAP values. This effect is independent from the time period and from hypertensive status.ConclusionsIn both NT and HT pregnant women, MAP is strongly (and significantly) influenced by increases in BMI.
Chronic stage-1 hypertensive women with normal pregnancy outcomes exhibited a progressively increasing postpartum UtA impedance. This trend also occurred in normotensive women, albeit at a significantly lower magnitude.
Resumo: Este artigo resulta de uma atitude reflexiva suportada por um conjunto de considerações que foram surgindo à medida que estudávamos a figura do gestor escolar da escola pública portuguesa, desde o Estado Novo até à atualidade, tentando conhecer quais as terminologias que os diferentes normativos legais impuseram, em simultâneo com os requisitos exigidos para o exercício da função. Nesta breve incursão diacrónica, numa abordagem de caráter, assumidamente, legalista conseguimos percecionar as diferentes políticas educativas que foram enformando o modelo de gestão educativo português, numa clara relação com modelos de gestão de caraterísticas colegiais e democráticas, aos quais o perfil do gestor escolar não seria alheio. Porém, a atual legislação marca um recuo relativamente a esses princípios assumindo a exigência de um órgão unipessoal, com uma configuração próxima da de um técnico de gestão.

THE PROFILE OF THE MANAGER OF THE PORTUGUESE PUBLIC SCHOOLAbstract: This article is the result of a reflexive attitude supported together by a group of considerations which were coming u pus we were studying the figure of the school administrator of Portuguese public school, from the Estado Novo to the present time, trying to know which terminologies the different legal norms have imposed, at the same time as the requirements required for the performance of the function. In this brief diachronic process, in an approach of character, admittedly legalistic, we have been able to perceive the different educational policies that have shaped the portuguese educational management model, in a clear relation with models of management of collegial and democratic characteristics, to which the profile of the school administrator does not Would be oblivious. However, current legislation marks a retreat from these principles by assuming the requirement of a singlemember body, with a configuration close to that of a management technician.Key Words: Democratic management.
