El desarrollo y análisis de la política macroprudencial más allá de la banca ha avanzado de forma significativa durante los últimos años si bien dicho desarrollo en Europa no ha sido homogéneo ni sencillo. En el ámbito de los fondos de inversión existen multitud de herramientas destinadas a mitigar tanto los riesgos de desajuste entre la liquidez y el vencimiento (reembolsos) de estas instituciones como el riesgo de apalancamiento. De todas ellas, la posibilidad de suspender los reembolsos es, por el momento, la única herramienta común a todos los Estados miembros de la UE, mientras que el resto muestran una disponibilidad y uso muy diferente entre Estados. En este sentido, España pertenece al grupo de países con el número más elevado de herramientas a su disposición, algunas de las cuales han sido adoptadas recientemente.
Este trabajo describe la evolución de las interconexiones dentro del sistema financiero español (dimensión transversal del riesgo sistémico) distinguiendo las conexiones directas y las indirectas. El análisis concluye que las interconexiones directas del sector bancario con los otros sectores son reducidas. Respecto a las indirectas, la relevancia de los sectores no bancarios ha venido aumentando (lo que puede incrementar su potencial impacto sobre la estabilidad financiera).
