La escasa presencia de las mujeres en Olimpiadas de Matemáticas parece ser una constante en México, Latinoamérica e incluso en occidente. Esta situación se ha obviado, y hasta cierto modo naturalizado, por las instituciones y personas implicadas. Analizamos como esto se vive en el estado de Tamaulipas en México, enmarcada por las políticas públicas y la influencia de la Olimpiada propuesta por la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana. Describiremos las acciones que hemos llevado a cabo para fomentar la participación de más niñas, pero también para apoyar el desarrollo del potencial, motivación e intereses de quienes ya participan en ellas. Por medio de un análisis descriptivo de su trayectoria en el concurso encontramos que pesar de tener un alto desempeño, es muy poco probable que elijan una carrera relacionada con Matemáticas. Factores como el profesorado y la familia tienen una influencia importante, pero también la dinámica de este tipo de eventos.
La situación de las mujeres profesoras de matemáticas en México tiene características que están fuertemente asociadas a cómo se han constituido la matemática escolar y su enseñanza dentro de una cultura patriarcal. Analizamos la presencia de las profesoras en México y el proceso de empoderamiento de un grupo de ellas en un nivel educativo y área de conocimiento en el que representan una minoría (preuniversitario). Aprovechamos la oportunidad que representa la necesaria incorporación de los entornos virtuales a la educación durante el 2020. Integramos la epistemología feminista y la teoría socioepistemológica de la matemática educativa como las perspectivas que nos permiten analizar cómo su condición de género marca su relación con la matemática escolar y con las tecnologías digitales. Identificamos una baja autovaloración de sus capacidades, pero también que la mayoría de las profesoras fueron capaces de transformar su práctica e integrar nuevas tecnologías digitales.
Resumen En este artículo mostramos el proceso de reflexión teórica y metodológica que nos permitió realizar una investigación en género desde la Teoría Socioepistemológica de la Matemática Educativa. Si bien el género es una variable social, su inclusión no es trivial. Fue él método biográfico aquel que nos permitió hacer el enlace entre nuestra perspectiva teórica y la de género. Pues nos dio la pauta para analizar la influencia de los factores sociales, no solo en la construcción de conocimiento, sino también en la constitución y manifestación del talento en matemáticas. Así, la Socioepistemología, dado el género asociado al individuo, permite considerar la función del individuo dentro de su grupo social, la forma en la que se relaciona con las prácticas desarrolladas y, por lo tanto, la forma en la que construye conocimiento, y cómo esta estará en función de las atribuciones socioculturales que se hagan a su género.
Este artículo tiene como objetivo presentar una reflexión sobre las condiciones, necesidades y alianzas que dieron origen al grupo Género y Matemáticas, y sobre las principales metodologías que han permitido construir una mirada crítica hacia el binomio género y matemáticas. Por ende, analizamos los principales momentos y proyectos que ayudaron a fortalecer la línea de investigación, y las diferentes oportunidades que han surgido para la intervención dentro del sistema educativo, así como sus frutos y prospectivas.
Desde la teoría socioepistemológica, la teoría feminista y la teoría de las representaciones sociales, se analiza un panorama amplio de investigaciones mexicanas sobre las diferencias de género en diversas dimensiones de la matemática escolar, el cual destaca la incidencia de las expectativas docentes y familiares, los aspectos socioculturales y los estereotipos de género como elementos que atraviesan el discurso matemático escolar. Todos estos propician que niñas y mujeres vean limitada la posibilidad de participar en la construcción de conocimiento matemático. En este sentido, planteamos la siguiente discusión: ¿Cómo el discurso matemático escolar excluye a las mujeres? El texto expone varias rutas de investigación futuras desde la socioepistemología que buscan incorporar la perspectiva de género en la enseñanza de las matemáticas.
