Tal y como reza en su página web (scielo.isciii.es), el proyecto SciELO es el resultado de la cooperación entre BI-REME (Centro Latinoamericano y del Caribe de Información en Ciencias de la Salud) y FAPESP (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo). En España lo mantiene la Biblioteca Nacional de Ciencias de la Salud, gracias al acuerdo de colaboración establecido entre la Organización Panamericana de la Salud/Organización Mundial de la Salud (OPS/OMS) y el Instituto de Salud Carlos III. SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) es un modelo para la publicación de revistas científicas en Internet. Su objetivo principal es promover "la difusión y visibilidad de la ciencia generada en Latinoamérica, el Caribe, España y Portugal mediante el acceso universal y gratuito a las publicaciones científicas adheridas a esta iniciativa" 1 .El portal SciELO es trilingüe (español, portugués e inglés). Se pueden realizar búsquedas en SciELO por autores, materias y/o palabras clave, además de revisando los sumarios de cada una de las revistas incluidas en la colección. De hecho, resulta muy cómoda la presentación de las revistas siguiendo un formato homogéneo, lo que facilita la búsqueda de contenidos en todas ellas. También es interesante la consulta de indicadores disponibles en el portal con datos actualizados sobre usos del sitio y cálculos bibliométricos, como el número de citas entre las revistas de la colección (aunque encontramos que la información disponible para la interpretación de estos indicadores es bastante parca).Desde el portal internacional (scielo.org, consultado en junio de 2015) comprobamos que actualmente la colección SciELO incluye casi 1.300 revistas, la mayoría en el área de ciencias de la salud (n=399), seguida de cerca por las publicaciones de ciencias humanas (n=358) y ciencias sociales aplicadas (n=259). El portal SciELO recopila revistas de otras áreas (biología, ingeniería, etc.) y con toda probabilidad seguirá creciendo en diversidad y contenidos. Si buscamos las revistas más directamente relacionadas con el área de Archivos (salud y seguridad en el trabajo), identificamos cuatro títulos incluidos en todo SciELO: la Revista Brasileira de Saúde Ocupacional (Brasil), Ciencia & Trabajo (Chile), Medicina y Seguridad del Trabajo (España, publicada desde la Escuela Nacional de Medicina del Trabajo (ENMT) del Instituto de Salud Carlos III) y la Revista de Psicología del Trabajo y de las Organizaciones (España, publicada desde el Colegio Oficial de Psicólogos de Madrid). Tal y como establece la filosofía de SciELO, estas cuatro revistas son de acceso libre. Sin embargo, ninguna de ellas está actualmente indizada en MEDLINE/PubMed. En la colección SciELO España encontramos las revistas españolas, todas del área de las ciencias de la salud (en total 58 publicaciones, de las que 41 siguen vigentes).Todas las revistas incluidas en SciELO ofrecen acceso gratuito a todos o la mayoría de sus contenidos (sumarios, resú-menes y textos completos).
