Introdução: Os forames palatinos são acidentes ósseos localizados no crânio, especificamente no palato ósseo, por onde passam estruturas vasculonervosas fundamentais na realização de cirurgias craniofaciais, especialmente na área da Odontologia e da Otorrinolaringologia. O estudo a respeito dos forames palatinos também é relevante para ampliar o estudo forense com base na observação de critérios que identifiquem o dimorfismo sexual. Objetivo: Realizar uma análise topográfica e morfológica dos forames palatinos maiores e menores e sua relação com outros acidentes ósseos, além de verificar a existência de diferenças significativas dos forames palatinos entre os sexos. Método: Foram selecionados 108 crânios secos humanos, de ambos os sexos, presentes no acervo do Laboratório de Anatomia da UFMS campus de Três Lagoas. O estudo foi realizado por meio da mensuração dos forames palatinos com o auxílio de dois paquímetros, determinação das distâncias entre o forame palatino maior direito e esquerdo e outros acidentes ósseos (forame incisivo, espinha posterior nasal, sutura interpalatina) e descrição do padrão encontrado. Resultado: Foram analisados 93 crânios, sendo 53 masculinos e 40 femininos. O FPM esteve bilateral em 100% dos crânios. Foi observado o predomínio do formato oval no FPM em crânios masculinos e do formato oval e redondo em crânios femininos. Não houve diferenças significativas entre as mensurações dos forames femininos e masculinos. Conclusão: As médias das mensurações obtidas são concordantes com diversos outros estudos encontrados na literatura, proporcionando, assim, maior conhecimento topográfico para cirurgiões craniofaciais.
Ligas Acadêmicas (LA) são fundamentais no processo de ensino-aprendizagem em diversos cursos, buscando suprir a necessidade de aprofundamento em temáticas diversas, tal qual a matéria de anatomia em cursos de medicina. Nesse sentido, compreendendo a relevância das LAs na troca de conhecimento, insere-se a colaboração realizada entre a Liga Acadêmica de Anatomia da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul e o Núcleo de Estudantes de Medicina acerca de como criar e organizar uma liga acadêmica, para que esse órgão pudesse incentivar a criação de LAs na Angola. Desta forma, o objetivo deste trabalho é relatar a experiência vivenciada por acadêmicos de Medicina da UFMS-CPTL em compartilhar conhecimentos sobre fundação, gestão e desenvolvimento de ligas acadêmicas com acadêmicos angolanos da UNIPIAGET. Trata-se de relato de experiência feito a partir da vivência de acadêmicos de medicina brasileiros na participação de reuniões on-line, com acadêmicos angolanos, sobre o funcionamento e a importância de ligas acadêmicas para a graduação e formação pessoal. Ocorreram três reuniões, via Google Meet, para abordar diferentes perspectivas em relação à experiência acadêmica dentro de uma LA, além de apresentar o estatuto e os planos de trabalhos a fim de proporcionar modelos para que os alunos da UNIPIAGET pudessem se inspirar e, no final, escrever o de suas ligas. O intercâmbio acadêmico permitiu o compartilhamento de saberes fundamentais para a criação e a manutenção de uma liga acadêmica, além de aprimorar habilidades de oratória e trabalho em equipe, levando aprendizados para os dois grupos envolvidos.
Introdução: As malformações uterinas congênitas são anormalidades causadas por fusão embriológica defeituosa ou falhas na recanalização dos ductos mullerianos na formação da cavidade uterina normal. Tais anormalidades podem ser associadas com desfechos gestacionais desfavoráveis na vida adulta. A interrupção da gravidez antes do período entre a 20ª e a 22ª semana gestacionais ou com peso fetal inferior a 500 g caracteriza-se como abortamento. Conforme a legislação brasileira, o aborto induzido é considerado crime, exceto quando a gravidez representa risco de vida para a gestante, estupro e feto anencéfalo. Por conta da falta de respaldo legal para o aborto, muitas mulheres procuram serviços clandestinos, em geral, sem a infraestrutura necessária para a operação e sem um profissional capacitado, o que culmina em resultados desfavoráveis, como malformações uterinas iatrogênicas e até morte. Objetivo: Determinar qual o impacto das malformações uterinas maternas no que tange às complicações gestacionais e ao aborto. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa de literatura com o uso os descritores “congenital abnormalities”, “abortion” e “uterus” na base de dados PubMed. Do total de 59 artigos encontrados, referentes aos últimos cinco anos, apenas 18 adequaram-se à proposta deste trabalho (critérios de exclusão: fuga do tema e repetições em periódicos). Resultados e conclusão: Entre os artigos selecionados, as malformações que mais sobressaíram foram: útero em T, útero bicorno, útero em chifre, síndrome de Herlyn-Werner-Wunderlich, útero septado e malformações arteriovenosas (MAV). Tais patologias, muitas vezes tardiamente diagnosticadas por falta da realização de exames de imagem, levaram a abortos sem causa definida principalmente durante o segundo semestre de gravidez. Em comparação com uma mulher de útero normal, foram encontrados índices até 37% maiores de aborto espontâneo, 8,9% a mais de gravidezes ectópicas, 41,8% a mais de cesáreas e 7,3% a mais de perdas recorrentes na gestação do que em pessoas com útero anatomicamente normal. As MAV podem ser causadas por dois tipos principais de etiologias, uma iatrogênica e outra durante o desenvolvimento intrauterino desses vasos, e podem causar, na idade adulta, prejuízos ao tecido uterino e até abortamentos tardios. Em relação ao útero septado, a taxa de abortamento apresentou-se 42% maior em relação às mulheres com cavidade uterina normal. Estudos apontaram, ainda, que o diagnóstico precoce seguido de tratamento adequado culminou na redução dos desfechos desfavoráveis, como abortamento e parto prematuro. Os achados mostraram que as anormalidades congênitas, como útero unicórnio, útero em T e malformações arteriovenosas (congênitas ou adquiridas) tiveram maiores índices de abortos e complicações gestacionais, mesmo em casos de reprodução assistida.
