La motivación es un proceso que orienta las acciones de las personas hacia metas deseadas con persistencia y perseverancia. Por ser un proceso, requiere cierto hacer decidido y sostenido. Su relevancia en los procesos de formación académica y en el trabajo cotidiano es tal que se constituye en un elemento central que conduce lo que la persona realiza y hacia dónde pretende dirigirse. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue describir la motivación personal, las metas de vida y las actitudes ante el estudio y el aprendizaje de alumnos ingresantes 2016 de la carrera Medicina Veterinaria de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral. El instrumento empleado es una escala de tipo Likert de Boza y Méndez (2013), que evalúa metas, estrategias, implicancia, entre otros aspectos de la motivación. Los resultados muestran que, si bien la mayoría de los estudiantes motorizan acciones en la búsqueda de un futuro mejor y el éxito en la vida, sólo una minoría siente satisfacción o felicidad durante el estudio. Los autores del trabajo creen que debe fortalecerse un aprendizaje motivado que habilite caminos para el éxito académico.
