Comparam-se a proporção e as características dos atendimentos efetuados às vítimas de violência sexual, do período anterior com o posterior à implantação do Protocolo de Ações Integradas em Atendimento à Vítima de Violência Sexual, envolvendo as áreas de Saúde e Segurança Pública, no Conjunto Hospitalar de Sorocaba - SP. Procedeu-se à pesquisa dos dados registrados nas fichas epidemiológicas das pessoas atendidas entre abril de 2003 e março de 2004, pelo prazo de seis meses em cada período, analisando-se características das vítimas, grau de relacionamento com o agressor e indicação de profilaxia medicamentosa para Doenças Sexualmente Transmissíveis. Nas 211 notificações, observou-se atendimento quatro vezes maior após a implantação dessa integração, com predomínio de vítimas do sexo feminino e de idade inferior a 18 anos, em ambos os períodos. Os encaminhamentos de Delegacias e Conselhos Tutelares aumentaram significativamente no segundo período, no qual, agressores conhecidos apresentaram maior freqüência, possibilitando o conhecimento dos resultados das respectivas sorologias anti-HIV , e, como decorrência, a interrupção do uso da profilaxia anti-retroviral por parte das vítimas, no caso de resultado negativo. Concluiu-se que a integração entre os setores de Saúde e de Segurança Pública é fundamental para que vítimas de violência sexual recebam atendimento na área de Saúde o mais precoce possível, tendo o foco voltado à prevenção de seqüelas que ameacem a sua integridade física e emocional. Essa ação conjunta possibilita a identificação mais rápida do agressor, conhecimento do resultado da sorologia anti-HIV, e, conseqüentemente, para a vítima, a redução do uso da quimioprofilaxia anti-retroviral.
