Este artículo analiza el impacto de las armas de fuego en los homicidios de jóvenes en América Latina en la actualidad. Para ello, se realizó un estudio epidemiológico descriptivo transversal a partir de los datos de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud. Se encontraron 14.427 muertes por agresiones con armas de fuego de jóvenes, con una tasa de 14,3 por 100.000 jóvenes para el año 2014 en América Latina. Así, el 80% de todos los homicidios de jóvenes de entre 10 a 19 años de la región fueron cometidos con armas de fuego. Esto afecta especialmente a los varones, cuya tasa asciende a 26,5 muertes por agresiones con armas de fuego, aunque en el caso de las mujeres no se descarta que, en su mayoría, se trate de feminicidios. Además, se registraron 1.828 muertes con armas de fuego de intención no determinada (especialmente provenientes de Venezuela y Argentina) y 284 muertes con armas de fuego en intervenciones legales (mostrando la mayor letalidad policial hacia los jóvenes). La tasa corregida pasa a ser de 16,4 por 100.000 jóvenes muertos por terceros con armas de fuego en América Latina. Se plantea la necesidad de políticas de control de armas y desarme, de campañas de desestigmatización y de programas de desarrollo de la juventud, que reduzcan las actuales condiciones que propician e invisibilizan el llamado “juvenicidio armado” en América Latina.
Desde la psicología social con perspectiva sociológica, se indaga si la evolución de la demanda de mayores castigos hacia los delincuentes en la opinión pública, esto es, la punitividad pública, en el Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires, entre los años 2000 y 2005, se vio afectada por las amenazas securitarias (hipótesis instrumental) o si fue, más bien, una reacción colectiva ante otro tipo de amenazas como las económicas, sociales y políticas que se canalizaron en una mayor hostilidad hacia los delincuentes (hipótesis expresiva). Con el fin de contrastar dichas hipótesis, se analizaron las ondas de la Encuesta de Victimización de la Dirección Nacional de Política Criminal. Se concluye que, si bien la reacción punitiva se corresponde relativamente a los niveles de amenaza securitaria, fue mayor aun cuando se politizó, en un sentido punitivo, en el espacio público (caso Blumberg), mostrando una respuesta tanto instrumental como expresiva.

Las cooperativas de vivienda, con más de 50 años de historia, han sido una respuesta efectiva para más de 38.000 familias que sienten hacia ellas pertenencia y apropiación. Las cooperativas de ayuda mutua de usuarios están agrupadas en la Federación Uruguaya de Cooperativas de Vivienda por Ayuda Mutua (FUCVAM), que es uno de los movimientos sociales más importantes del Uruguay en la actualidad. La formación es un aspecto que ha ocupado un lugar relevante en las cooperativas, con discontinuidades y tensiones diversas. El artículo analiza las tensiones planteadas entre el saber técnico y el militante, entre la formación política y la técnica (gestión), y aborda tanto los efectos formativos de la organización y la movilización como los dispositivos convocados con dichos fines. En particular, se destacan los momentos de lucha, fundamentalmente de resistencia a la dictadura, como espacios de formación y socialización política.
