Este trabajo tiene como objetivo conocer cómo ha afectado el incremento de turistas y sus actividades en su estancia en una ciudad concreta y cómo afectan sus actitudes y acciones a los lugareños de dicha zona. Así mismo se pretende tratar la problemática de los apartamentos turísticos ilegales creados a raíz de una fuerte demanda y las primeras respuestas que ha dado la administración ante las constantes manifestaciones de rechazo de los vecinos de la zona a tratar. La tipología de turismo en la que se centra este estudio es el llamado turismo de masas y concretamente en el turismo de sol y playa y de borrachera, que ha alcanzado altas cotas en estos últimos diez años (Ajuntament de Barcelona 2014), donde los criterios de sostenibilidad parece que no son los principios rectores en la práctica de la actividad turística. Por tanto, hemos visto, por un lado, la necesidad de tratar los conceptos de turismo sostenible y la aplicación que se dan en un caso real: la ciudad de Barcelona y concretamente un barrio marinero como es la Barceloneta y, por otro lado, conocer qué efectos tanto sociales como económicos ha tenido en esta área geográfica concreta la práctica de este turismo.
Dentro de la isla, la ciudad de Ibiza posee gran relevancia en la oferta turística y es el único núcleo urbano realmente antiguo. En este trabajo se realiza una descripción de las dos ofertas principales: el turismo patrimonial y el turismo de lujo. Estos dos tipos de oferta buscan revitalizar un destino maduro especializado en el turismo de sol y playa. El trabajo se basa en la revisión de la prensa local y estudios previos sobre el destino, completado con la visita e inspección de la oferta existente en la ciudad de Ibiza. La oferta patrimonial está basada en la ciudad histórica. Se han realizado diversas acciones para mejorar la presentación del patrimonio histórico de la ciudad, pero la ciudad histórica sigue siendo una zona con poca población y envejecida, no consiguiendo atraer nuevos residentes. El turismo de lujo tiene un importante impacto mediático en los últimos años gracias a los muchos proyectos de modernización de la oferta hotelera. Este tipo de oferta tiene su epicentro en el Paseo Marítimo, al otro lado de la bahía y frente a la ciudad histórica.
La diversificación de productos turísticos, la búsqueda de satisfacción del turista, cómo aumentar el gasto medio del turista y la reducción de la estacionalidad son sin duda retos que el destino turístico asume. Pero ¿los recursos sobre los que se basan los productos y servicios son siempre accesibles para el cliente turista? Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar la gestión que se llevan a cabo en las Catedrales de Palma de Mallorca y de Barcelona en cuanto a temas de turismo accesible se refiere. Los objetivos que se quieren alcanzar son tres: el primero dilucidar cómo gestionan las Catedrales los problemas que las personas discapacitadas a nivel físico se pueden encontrar en sus visitas turísticas; el segundo conocer en qué líneas de accesibilidad se ha trabajado: motriz, sordera o ceguera; y finalmente, el tercer objetivo es ver en qué grado se ha hecho la adaptación, si de un modo total o parcial.
Desde que España entró en la Unión Europea en el año 1986, su legislación ha tenido que adaptarse a las Directivas que la misma ha ido creando y que le han sido vinculantes. La transposición se corresponde, jurídicamente hablando, al mecanismo de despliegue y aplicación de dichas Directivas por parte de las autoridades nacionales competentes ya que, dando sólo las directrices, requiere de un complemento normativo de los Estados para su efectiva implementación (Aguado y Noguera, 2012). En el año 2006 se promulgaba una nueva Directiva 2006/123/CE, conocida como Directiva Bolkestein, relativa a los servicios en el mercado interior, afectando entre otros sectores, al turístico. Desde la promulgación de la Constitución, en 1978, y en virtud de su artículo 148.1.18 las Comunidades y Ciudades Autónomas (CCAA) tienen traspasadas las competencias en materia turística, lo que ha implicado que desde los gobiernos de dichas CCAA se hayan llevado a cabo dichas transposiciones, (Casanovas, 2011) afectando con ello a los sectores profesionales que forman parte del sector terciario, donde cabe incluir a los guías de turismo.El presente estudio pretende conocer cómo se ha gestionado dicha trasposición por parte de las CCAA en la normativa que de manera directa o indirecta afecta al sector profesional de los guías de turismo. La metodología que se ha seguido ha consistido en la recopilación, vaciado y análisis de la legislación de cada una de las CCAA para posteriormente ver cómo han hecho la transposición y en qué situación ha quedado la profesión de guía de turismo. Los resultados de la investigación demuestran que no se han seguido criterios unitarios y que en algunas CCAA se ha producido un vacío legal que deja en la más absoluta indefensión esta profesión, dejando, por otro lado la puerta abierta al intrusismo, el cual ha sido un mal endémico en la misma.
Resumen En los destinos maduros hay que buscar nuevas propuestas para poder trazar nuevas metas y ofrecer versiones innovadoras en la gestión de productos y servicios, dado que normalmente tienen servicios muy consolidados por los que atraen grandes flujos turísticos. Los destinos turísticos tratan, básicamente, de satisfacer la exigente y variada demanda turística, con un reto añadido: diversificar los productos y aumentar el gasto medio del turista así como disminuir la estacionalidad (IDOM, 2011). En base a estas realidades surge el interés de este estudio por conocer en profundidad un Recurso Patrimonial tratado como Recurso Turístico en dos destinos maduros del Mediterráneo español: Las Catedrales de Palma de Mallorca y de Barcelona, que aún en la distancia, tienen una serie de elementos y patrones en común. Dos ciudades, Palma de Mallorca y Barcelona que atraen por una oferta de servicios turísticos donde sus Catedrales están consideradas de rango 2 según la clasificación de CICATUR-OEA.
