This paper describes the procedures for a concept-based mapping of two agricultural thesauri, the multilingual AGROVOC, created and maintained by the Food and Agricultural Organization, and the bilingual Chinese Agricultural Thesaurus, created and maintained by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science. Conducted under the auspices of FAO's Agricultural Ontology Service, the mapping project aims to extend AGROVOC with an additional set of perspectives on the agricultural domains, enrich its domain and language coverage, and to make use of AGROVOC as a common data model for data exchange among a wide range of multilingual repositories within agriculture.
In our study cohort, liver disease was stable or improving in most of the patients, and development of progressive hepatic symptoms while under treatment was a rare event. The development of new symptoms while under treatment or progression of pre-existing symptoms was more often recorded for neurological than for hepatic symptoms.
A psychiatric involvement is frequently present in Wilson’s disease. Psychiatric symptoms are sometimes the first and only manifestation of Wilson’s disease. More often a psychiatric involvement is present beside a neurologic or hepatic disease. We describe the case of a 18 years-old male patient who shows a clinic and laboratoristic pattern of cirrhosis and an history of subchronic hallucinatory psychosis, behavioral symptoms and mood disturbances with depressed mood. He hadn’t familiar history of liver or psychiatric disease. Laboratory and imaging tests confirmed the diagnosis of Wilson’s disease with psichiatric involvement. After liver transplantation copper metabolism and liver function normalised and we noticed no recurrency of the psichiatric illness. Very few cases of psychiatric improvement after orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) has been described until now.
On the other hand, few tools are available to integrate related information from different sources and, as a result, it is often very difficult to find related information on the web. Such problems can only be solved if action is taken to establish appropriate norms, vocabuiaries, guidelines and standards to facilitate the integration of data from different sources, and to engage in effective data exchange. Through the adoption of international classification schemes, controlled vocabularies, open standards and common data modeis, these information management problems shall eventually be ovel'come. FAO, through the development of tools that exploit such standards, strives to provide an effective framework for "one-stop shopping', where people can search for agricultural information resources without having to explore many different individual websites. In the agricultural sector, there exist already many well-established and authoritative controlled vocabularies, such as FAOs multilingual thesaurus AGROVOqII, the CAB Thesaurus[2] and the NAL Thesaurus[3] of the National Agricultural Library in the USA. These systems have been carried over from the traditional library world. However, for these semantic tools to be more effective on the Internet and especially in a multilingual context, there is a need to re-assess the traditional 'thesaurus" approach and move towards more powerful models and technologies, such as the development of concept-based systems, known also as
The Wikiplantbase project, started in 2013, provides a framework where the full set of georeferenced floristic records of Tuscany and Sardinia can be entered, stored, updated and freely accessed through the Internet. Mainly thanks to the collaboration of amateur botanists, data have accumulated quickly. All records entered by collaborators are submitted to the project coordinators, who are enabled to accept, modify, or reject them. As of 22 November 2016, Wikiplantbase #Toscana holds 116,402 verified floristic records (90% based on published literature, 5% on unpublished herbarium specimens, 5% on field observations), and Wikiplantbase #Sardegna 40,043 (77% published literature, 18% unpublished herbarium specimens, 5% on field observations ). The records include over 90% of the specific and subspecific taxa known for Tuscany and about 70% -but rapidly growing -of those known for Sardinia. The most recorded species are Quercus ilex L. (Fagaceae) for Tuscany and Pistacia lentiscus L. (Anacardiaceae) for Sardinia. With minor software tweaking, the online platform Wikiplantbase might be adopted in other contexts, resulting in a well connected network of regional floristic databases suited to exploit the involvement -still largely untapped -of nonacademic collaborators, as advocated by citizen science.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
