Resumen El presente trabajo realiza un recorrido desde el simbolismo demonio-mujer y el carácter femenino de lo demoníaco, heredado del discurso misógino, desde una perspectiva comparativa que arraiga en la moral judeocristiana, se desarrolla en la tradición medieval y continúa en los Siglos de Oro. Se exploran los diferentes opposita de la fémina como sujeto activo del mal, capaz de tentar al varón en forma de demonio súcubo, y la mujer como objeto pasivo y meta de la seducción. Sirve como ilustración un texto inquisitorial del siglo XVII, el Proceso de fe de las religiosas de Santa Clara de Trujillo (Perú), encausadas por obsesas por el Tribunal inquisitorial de Lima del Virreinato del Perú, cuyo caso despierta similitudes, en algunos aspectos, con la experiencia mística de Teresa de Ávila, así como con la de otras religiosas visionarias.
El acervo popular ha recogido y mantenido, a lo largo de generaciones, la creencia en el mal de ojo. La base de esta superstición, relacionada con la envidia, tiene su origen en la Antigüedad y hay constancia de que, tanto en Grecia como en Roma existían prácticas rituales para aojar y maldecir, es decir, para causar mal por medio de la mirada o de la voz. Por otra parte, en la Edad Media, ya casi en los albores del Renacimiento, la bula papal de Inocencio VIII (1484), Summis desiderantes affectibus, y la posterior publicación del manual inquisitorial, Malleus maleficarum (1486), tendrían una influencia nefasta para todos aquellos, principalmente mujeres, que practicaban este tipo de rituales para ahuyentar el mal. En este estudio se realizará un breve recorrido por el mal de ojo: amuletos y protecciones contra el maleficio; quién es susceptible de sufrirlo y por qué; cuáles son sus síntomas, cómo se detecta; quién lo echa, por qué motivo y cómo lo hace; quién lo puede quitar y qué métodos utiliza para ello. Asimismo y para ilustrar este análisis, se compararán algunos casos de aojamiento en México, en contraste con algunos testimonios europeos recogidos en trabajo de campo (desde 2011 a 2015) y entre informantes de diversa procedencia: Madrid, La Carlota (Córdoba), Canillas de Aceituno (Málaga) y Los Navalucillos (Toledo) en España; Aveiras de Abaixo (Portugal) y Buzău?(Rumanía)
Resumen
Los testimonios de Luisa Benítez y Ana Núñez, dos jóvenes monjas del Convento de Santa Clara de Trujillo (Perú), proveen información relativa al proceso de fe que el tribunal inquisitorial de Lima llevó a cabo en el siglo XVII. La heterodoxia religiosa y política de estas monjas criollas, presente tanto en el lenguaje de sus declaraciones inquisitoriales como en su performance de santidad, transgrede los roles de género femeninos según expectativas patriarcales y a la vez, como proponemos, abre el espacio para que estos sujetos femeninos desarrollen lo que llamamos una santidad queer que reorienta la ideología de la cultura imperial española.
Hemos tratado de actualizar un trabajo anterior nuestro en el que recomponíamos la estructura de parentesco, ascendente y lateral, de Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo. En las páginas siguientes reconstruiremos la línea dimanada del Maestre de Campo, Gobernador de Chile y General de la Armada de los Mares del Sur Don Francisco de Quiñones, cuñado del santo. Una dinastía al servicio de la Corona española cuyos descendientes habrán de dividirse en dos ramas, la hispana y la americana, ejemplificando un modelo nobiliario común en el siglo XVII.
