El objetivo de esta investigación fue describir las herramientas tecnológicas actuales utilizadas en la educación durante el tiempo de confinamiento por pandemia del COVID-19, así como algunos beneficios que ofrecen las nuevas tecnologías de información y comunicación a la educación superior. Se realizó una investigación documental, con diseño descriptivo. La técnica usada fue el análisis de contenido. Se establecieron dos unidades de análisis con sus categorías. Como resultados se destaca que entre las herramientas más usadas están el Learning Magangement System, la realidad virtual, los videojuegos y los gestores de contenido. Entre sus beneficios se mencionan la comprensión, alfabetización digital, autonomía, trabajo colaborativo, pensamiento crítico, flexibilización, motivación y renovación de métodos y procesos de enseñanza. Se concluye que la tecnología es una herramienta imprescindible para la educación superior, las herramientas tecnológicas ayudan a la enseñanza y aprendizaje fundamentalmente en momentos difíciles como los que hoy está atravesando el mundo por la pandemia.
A lo largo de la historia, las empresas han enfrentado el reto de desarrollar buenas estrategias en sus sistemas de producción para generar ventajas competitivas y garantizar su sostenibilidad en el tiempo; y para lograrlo deben resolver el problema de optimizar sus procesos productivos. Las pequeñas y medianas empresas del sector textil en América Latina y en Ecuador representan un gran porcentaje de las unidades productivas, sin embargo, su participación en el producto interno bruto (PIB) sigue siendo muy baja. Ante esta realidad la estrategia para el sector textil es aumentar su efectividad y eficiencia. En este sentido, el propósito fundamental de la presente investigación es compendiar las generalidades relacionadas con la optimización de procesos de producción en medianas empresas del sector textil. La investigación se realizó bajo una metodología de tipo documental bibliográfica, bajo la modalidad de revisión. De la revisión se encontró que existe una amplia gama de métodos y estrategias para la optimización de los procesos de producción aplicables a medianas empresas del sector textil. Entre las técnicas tecnológicas se encuentra la Simulación de Eventos Discretos (SED), que es una herramienta de investigación de operaciones con uso en este tipo de empresas de manufactura. Asimismo, la Manufactura esbelta, que es un método de origen japonés, busca la optimización de los procesos de producción, reduciendo costos y a la vez mejorando la calidad. En conclusión, el uso de herramientas y técnicas que permitan la optimización de procesos de producción (recolección de información, análisis, implantación de correcciones, control y supervisión, auditorías, entre otros) especialmente en las medianas empresas del sector textil, es fundamental para que las mismas se mantengan competitivas y preparadas para enfrentar amenazas ante otras empresas, ante tecnologías disruptivas y normas cambiantes.
