Sustentabilidade. The growth of industrial activities contributed to the emergence of debates, theories and studies on the environmental risks and their relationship with industry. In this context, the construction industry, as a generator of large environmental impacts, has been the focus of studies on important events and global conventions. Therefore, the development of seals and environmental certifications as a means of mitigating the impacts of the construction production chain has been growing. The methodology used for the development of this work was documentary research. As a result, the study examined the main certifications and seals used in Brazil and their accession in the country.
Sustainable buildings feature a technology migration that aims to reduce the impact of buildings on the built environment, future generations and their environment. In this sense, environmental certifications can be used as political or marketing instruments in social, economic and environmental development. Therefore, the present study describes the relationship of the LEED certification system, focusing on the Brazilian market. The methodology used is a descriptive research. As a result, the study shows that the Brazil's expressive results put it in fourth place in the worldwide list of LEED sustainable certifications. It was concluded that the corporate strategies for sustainable construction in Brazil are concentrated to high-standard projects, since the country has not yet understood the real value of sustainability, which is not only environmental, it has to be technical and economic.
Using the HAZOP procedure to assess a steam boiler safety system at a university hospital located in Brazil The fierce competition between organizations has stimulated the production sector to improve its production processes simultaneously with the quality of its products, which, in short, heats up the economy and presents strong challenges to government agencies and employers, especially when considering the safety of employees in their workplace. The differential of this study is stated in the application of HAZOP in the boiler sector of a hospital, in other words, , in the micro industrial area of a company that provides services In this context, this paper aims to identify the risks present in the fire-tube boilers of the University Hospital of Santa Maria, RS. The method used follows the application practices of the HAZOP tool. Therefore, on this basis, we proceeded with bibliographic analysis, methodologies, references, on-site visits at the university hospital, and studies of investments made in steam generators. Due to this study, it was possible to show that the industry under study has no operation and maintenance default for the boiler, resulting in a high possibility of failure in the system as a whole and, in the case of an explosion, catastrophic consequences.
