A review of the importance of controlling the aluminium content in liquid steel is made, and the various methods used for the determination of soluble aluminium are discussed.
A recently developed and patented instrument, using a special electrolysis cell for rapid dissolution of the solid steel samples, and a computer‐controlled flow injection analyzer (FIA) also developed to produce results directly in % concentration, are described. Typical analysis time for duplicate determination is 150 s. Accuracy ranges from 0.003 to 0.005% in the range from 0.005 to 0.300% sol. aluminium in steel.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
