This study aims to measure and analyze the variation of temperature and cutting forces in a drilling process, establish the relationship between the energy involved in the whole process and heat generated. For this, the present study has designed and built a calorimeter, made of PVC and Technyl, to facilitate the study. After construction of the calorimeter, thermocouples were used conventional K-type, coupled to the equipment Agilent, which is instructed to make acquisition of the temperature variation at the time of drilling. For measurement of the shear stress, it used a rotational Kistler dynamometer. It used specimens cast gray iron and high-speed steel drill, with a diameter of 10.0 mm (φ = 10.0 mm). The variation of heat generated as well as the variation of torque observed at the time of drilling were presented in graphs and discussed as the proposed mathematical calculations.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
